Therefore, having completely abandoned all evil deeds, one should strive to practice the correct path. Having thoroughly generated the thought of benefiting others, those who have the thought of benefiting themselves should listen with joy and faith to the slightly revealed profound path. Even those who are afflicted with ordinary illnesses, if they listen carefully to doctors, how can those who are afflicted by attachment and hatred disobey their instructions? Even those whose limbs are bound by ropes, if they strive to find ways to untie them, how can those who are bound by the ropes of evil deeds remain at ease? Having repeatedly urged by the faithful Sba-ba (name of a person), having listened carefully from his words, for all the fields of poetics, the wise have composed with pure intention. When explaining the profound path instructions, if there appear to be contradictions, I confess to the wise. By virtue of virtuous actions and whatever is in accordance with them, one should abandon the habits of oneself and others. Even if others strive for eons, these poems, which are very difficult to compose, have been composed with completely pure intention. For the wise, this is a cause for wonder. Even if slandered by attachment and hatred, it only reveals one's own faults to others. May I never have fear or dread in my heart. This was composed by Shar Tsongkhapa Lobsang Drakpa, whose lotus of wisdom blossomed on most of the scriptures of the Sugatas, at the request of his friend Sba-ba. May all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas abiding in the ten directions, and the patrons with their retinues, give heed. May all merits and virtues increase and expand more and more like the waxing moon! Furthermore, through the power of these roots of virtue, may we, from now on until all lifetimes of attaining enlightenment, be able to uphold all the supreme Dharma of the Buddhas completely, just as the Buddhas intended! May there not be even a moment of obstacles to this! May all favorable conditions, relying on virtuous spiritual friends, and all that the Buddhas have granted, such as places, friends, lifespan, and the necessities of life, be easily accomplished without hindrance! To eliminate these obstacles and accomplish favorable conditions, may the oath-bound protectors who in the past saw the Buddhas, heard the sacred Dharma, relied on the noble Sangha, and vowed to protect the teachings and the fourfold assembly, assist without any negligence! May all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas abiding in the ten directions consider me, who am called by this name. May this person, who is called by this name, through the power of these roots of virtue gathered by the three bases, for the benefit of all sentient beings equal to the sky, attain the precious state of Buddhahood! In all lifetimes before attaining that, may I be the best among those of noble birth and beautiful form! May I be the best among those who are long-lived and healthy! May I be the best among those who are wealthy and have great power! May I be the best among those who have great wisdom and great faith!
