Regarding learning, the discipline of vows is explained in the seven types of Pratimoksha vows for Bodhisattvas. If one is not initially restrained by the discipline of vows, the other two disciplines will not become pure, as explained in the Compendium of Determinations for Bodhisattvas. Therefore, striving to uphold the Pratimoksha vows that one has taken is the most important thing, even when learning the Bodhisattva's precepts. Based on such a path, if one wishes to easily perfect the two accumulations, one must enter the path of Vajrayana in general and especially the path of Anuttarayoga. Therefore, when ripening the continuum through empowerment, one makes promises with countless Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and the Lama as witnesses, and to establish the basis for accomplishing the two types of Siddhis, one must be very diligent in guarding the Samayas and vows, because without this, it is like a dilapidated house with a rotten foundation. Even if one strives in the Mantrayana path, let alone attaining Siddhi, even obtaining a human birth will be difficult, as SaraHa said. Guarding the Samayas and vows, even if one has not practiced the path of the four sessions of yoga, if one has not transgressed, one will achieve it in sixteen lifetimes, because it is said. Therefore, the precepts of Vajrayana are limitless and have become the essence of the teachings. Even if it is difficult to guard everything, one must exert great effort to guard against the root downfalls that sever the vows. Thus, when the continuum has been ripened and one practices the path, one must first prevent the ordinary grasping of what appears as body, place, and enjoyment, and transform it into something special. In this way, it is easy to prevent misdeeds and very easy to perfect the accumulations. The Samadhi of Buddha-recollection, the generation stage that the Victorious Ones themselves have repeatedly taught in the Tantras in many ways, is superior to many other so-called profound instructions, and is regarded as the root of the Anuttarayoga path. Based on that, when practicing the completion stage, although the Tantras explain it in many ways, what is like life is to cultivate the view free from elaboration, held by the special means of mantra. Ultimately, it depends solely on gaining certainty free from permanence and annihilation in the meaning of the Middle Way that is free from all extremes.

It is wrong to think that merely looking at emptiness with the views of ordinary people, and thinking that just letting the mind rest in the meaning of emptiness is the practice of profound meaning. Some tantras have records of this, and some tantras only show seeds. Therefore, one should understand and expand from those places where it is not widely elaborated. It is not enough to just grasp the literal meaning. Regarding the profound meaning that is free from elaboration, the previous scholars all believed that there is no difference between mantra and paramita. I think this view is very good. Therefore, if you seek the understanding of profound meaning from the treatises of Madhyamaka, it will be easier to understand than from mantra. In this way, I think that mantra and exoteric teachings are a complete and perfect whole of the Buddha's teachings. For those who only roughly understand a part and practice a little, but cannot truly delve into it, I will make them the object of my prayers and repeatedly cultivate my wishes. If you do not understand this overall structure of the Dharma, you will not be able to grasp the key to practice by looking at the path comprehensively. For these, I think it is especially necessary to have those who understand the overall Dharma, have wisdom, and are impartial, to analyze the meaning of the scriptures with subtle reason around the practice. Therefore, it is necessary for a saint like you to conduct research. Because this also appears to be an indispensable research object, please study it according to the Dharma, and if there is reason, use it to do the things of self-nature. This method was written by the Shakya monk Lobsang Drakpa (Tsongkhapa) in the secluded place of Reting Monastery (in Lhünzhub County, Lhasa), north of Lhasa, in order to answer the question of Sherab Besangpo, a great Gelug scholar who holds the precepts diligently, holds the Tripitaka, and is proficient in the four treatises. In the past, a virtuous spiritual friend said that it would be good to have a brief trick to turn suffering into a path. Because we are the root of the Dharma, things that have already been done cannot be done again. However, in order not to violate your request, I will answer briefly. Turning suffering into a path can be understood in two ways: first, to reverse the mind that does not want suffering; and then, to truly turn suffering into a path. The more you complain about suffering, the more discomfort in your heart increases, so you feel pain here. Based on this, the anger that disturbs the mind will grow, so in the next life you will suffer incomparable pain.

In order to generate (bodhicitta). The wise should not generate a mind that cannot bear suffering, but should repeatedly generate the conviction of increasing mental strength with various reasons. Because if you generate courage, even great suffering will not make you sad. If you are small in courage and timid, you will also suffer meaninglessly. For example, when a brave man sees his own blood from a wound, his courage increases even more; when a coward sees the blood of another's wound, he faints and falls to the ground. On the path of practice, there are two ways to practice: one is for oneself, and the other is for others. First, after generating mental strength in this way, for the suffering that arises in this way, this is something to be happy about because it brings out the merits for those who have the power of discriminating wisdom. That is, in order to generate the thought of definitely escaping from samsara, to strengthen faith in refuge, to eliminate arrogance, to avoid evil, to love virtue, and to arouse compassion for sentient beings. The first point is that as long as one wanders in samsara under the control of karma and afflictions, one will always be harmed by this kind of suffering. Therefore, I should attain the cessation of the aggregates of appropriation, the quiescence that connects the continuum. Once wandering in samsara, being tormented by many sufferings is not something that should not happen, but is the nature of samsara. The second point is that in the fear of samsara, not once or twice, but wandering endlessly. Saving from this kind of fear is only the non-deceptive Three Jewels. Therefore, no matter what happens, one should not abandon the Three Jewels, and one should be determined to strive for refuge. The third point is that self-centered pride, and the contempt for others that it causes, is the basis for destroying many virtues and acting as the basis for many evils, and is the door to many harms. The suffering I endure can prevent pride and be seen as a place of aversion, so I must strive to eliminate pride. The fourth point is that if this kind of suffering produces great sorrow, then those
