Having completely purified wisdom through hearing and thinking, like the sacred stream of water that washes away all stains. For what purpose are hair and beard shaved, regarding the righteous conduct of the Lord Buddha as the supreme liberation or sole omniscience. And recognizing that diligent practice of extensive hearing is the root. Therefore, abandoning all places of bustle like discarding garbage. The wind of the qualities of solitude, praised more than once in the scriptures, involuntarily draws the mind like a cottonwood petal. Having gone to a solitary place, strive to practice the meanings that have been heard. Having attained supreme accomplishment through diligent practice, enjoying the glory of the ocean of joy and happiness without ever diminishing. This is the universal conduct of the noble beings of the past. To this, it is said: The faults of samsara and the benefits of peace, having long been accustomed to distinguishing them separately, therefore, the bustling places defiled by many faults are abandoned far away like poisoned food. The sun's light makes it fully bloom, the hundred-petaled lotus filled with fragrant scent, even if it flourishes in the midst of an impure mud, how can it be tainted by a disgusting odor? Like licking honey on a razor's edge, for the sake of small gains enduring the source of unbearable suffering, those whose minds are drawn to the perfections of samsara, how can they be persuaded by words of peace? Even if the conduct of the swan dwelling peacefully in the center of the great lotus lake is repeatedly proclaimed, it will not touch the hearts of those crows who are arrogant in the midst of a foul dung heap. Therefore, you understand the faults of samsara and peace, possess extensive hearing and thought, have unwavering faith in karma and its results, perceive the faults of bustle, know the qualities of solitude, and possess all the conducive conditions for diligent practice. Having abandoned the mistaken path based on distraction, the evil path not shown by non-noble beings, then what need is there to urge you to enter the correct path based on extreme solitude, the path shown by the noble beings? However, what harm is there in speaking some pleasing and melodious advice?

Doesn't the peak of the towering snow mountain become even whiter when the moonlight of autumn falls upon it? However, those foolish people, just like those who delay paying taxes to the king until they are punished, knowing that they must inevitably part with relatives, friends, wealth, fame, gain, and respect, do not abandon these when they have the power to do so. Instead of seeking solitude and eternal bliss, they indulge in worldly affairs, only to be sanctioned by the punishment of the Lord of Death, forced to part with relatives and others against their will. Wise people, on the other hand, hasten to complete what must be done before punishment befalls them; how could they wait for punishment to come? If one should go to the forest because one must unwillingly part due to the punishment of the Lord of Death, that seems reasonable. But even so, if one thinks that one must first prepare for the necessities of this life, and then enter the remote forest, that is not reasonable. For example, in the past, many like-minded people went to a foreign land, going to a place full of fear. One of the merchants stopped by a stone on the road and started polishing it. His friends asked him, "What are you polishing it for?" He said, "To make it square." His friends asked again, "What will you do after making it square?" He said, "Once it's done, I'll throw it away." This is like a joke. Engaging in activities that must be discarded as soon as they are completed is something that only followers of faith would do, but not followers of Dharma. Therefore, constantly remember that no one can escape the punishment of the Lord of Death, and there is no certainty as to when that punishment will come. As quickly as possible, use this precious human body to accomplish the great meaning that can accomplish great things. It is as difficult to obtain as a blind turtle's neck fitting into the hole of a yoke. Strive to possess these two special qualities. In this way, the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment, the great meaning of obtaining it, and the contemplation of its impermanence are the initial encouragement for practice, the cause for not diminishing practice in the middle, and the ultimate perfection of practice, so it is extremely important.
