When Darika said that knowing the unchanging nature of bliss and accepting only the changing bliss, etc., are necessary as limbs, if a householder Vajra master who has not obtained the power to bind the channels takes the bliss of the union of the two organs as a means to attain Buddhahood, it will not be a root downfall if the limbs are incomplete. If the limbs such as that intention are complete, it will become a root downfall. Furthermore, all interdependent relationships that appear outwardly and inwardly, although appearing as interdependent and the cause and effect are not deceiving, from the very beginning, because of being empty of essence, are liberated from all elaborations such as the four extremes. The nature of things is not "this is it" or "this is not it," it is not an object of discrimination, cannot be expressed in words, and cannot be represented by reasons and examples, but is understood in the realm where wisdom is exhausted. Please consider whether the place of understanding is in accordance with the meaning, and then please grant acceptance, decision, and instruction. The answer to this question is that before the subtle reasoning of Madhyamaka and Pramana has been finally determined, many people in the snowy land who rashly make judgments on subtle points unanimously agree that the absence of self-nature, which is established by its own characteristics, pervades the absence, and for this reason, they believe that if it exists, it must exist truly. One group says that because it is without self-nature, the cause and effect of good and bad karma producing happiness and suffering, as well as liberation and other things, are not valid in Madhyamaka. Other groups say that conventional truths are like that, but other than that, they are truly established. Both of these views have deviated from the Madhyamaka school, because they have deviated from the Nagarjuna school, which manifests emptiness as interdependence, and have successively fallen into the abyss of annihilationism and both eternalism and annihilationism. In particular, according to the latter view, the person who proves the truth, as well as the scriptures and reasoning that prove it, are also conventional truths, and because they are without self-nature, they will become non-existent, so wanting to prove their truth is a contradictory burden. Therefore, the Root Wisdom says, "Because of emptiness, everything is possible." And it says, "If everything is not empty, then there is no birth and no destruction, the four noble truths

O you all. If you don't have it, then it will become absurd. As it is said. So, for any Madhyamika who is compatible with the system of emptiness without inherent existence, it is necessary that all the distinctions of samsara and nirvana are reasonable. If it is not empty of inherent existence, then arising and ceasing, bondage and liberation, etc., are not reasonable, so since one makes distinctions of arising and ceasing and bondage and liberation, etc., one must accept the absence of inherent existence. It should be understood as it is said. If there is no inherent existence, arising and ceasing are not permissible, do not say permissibly in reverse. If you understand such a thing, then in the Bodhisattva Commentary it says: Having understood that all phenomena are empty, and having gained certainty about karma and its results, this is more wonderful than wonderful, and more marvelous than marvelous. This is gaining such a view. Because one has gained certainty about the unfailing nature of dependent arising, cause and effect, one prevents the view of nihilism, and because one has gained certainty about emptiness without inherent existence, in which not even a particle of the object of grasping at characteristics is established. Therefore, one is liberated from the extreme of permanence. Therefore, the view of gaining certainty about the unfailing nature of cause and effect while being empty of inherent existence is the key to cutting off the pitfalls of both permanence and nihilism, so it is a marvelous key. The need to seek a view in the beginning is also for the sake of meditating on the definitive meaning, and that is also for the sake of reversing self-grasping, so even during meditation, one must thoroughly examine the objects of the two kinds of self-grasping with discriminating wisdom, and at the time of gaining certainty that none of the characteristics of the two selves are established, one must place the view in that place and maintain the continuity of certainty, but if one only cultivates calm abiding while abandoning the certainty of the view, then it will not harm the root of samsara, self-grasping, at all. Having seen this meaning, the Lord of Reasoning said: If this object is not refuted, then one cannot abandon it. And Aryadeva also said: If one sees the absence of self in objects, then the seeds of existence will cease. It is said. And in the Samadhiraja Sutra it also says: If one discriminates the absence of self in phenomena, if one discriminates that separately, if one meditates, that is the cause for obtaining the fruit of nirvana. Whatever other cause there is, it will not pacify. In a way that both following and reversing are certain, the wisdom that discriminates the meaning of selflessness is said to be the supreme gate to liberation. The way of abiding is not the object of sound and thought, for example.
