Moreover, from the great rivers emanate divine songs, more melodious and pleasing than those played by celestial musicians with hundreds of thousands of kotis of branches, so that one never tires of listening. They proclaim immeasurable aspects of the Dharma to those beings, and the flocks of birds manifested make all the Buddha-fields understand these sounds, ensuring that bodhisattvas never stray from the remembrance of the Buddha. Palaces appear before those beings, just as they desire, as described before, and within them, they are surrounded by seven thousand celestial maidens, playing and rejoicing. Thus, in the context of the qualities of sentient beings, some qualities are enumerated from the various aspirations that appeared from the places and non-places of the previous aspiration for a pure land, as a cause for the strong desire to take birth in the pure land. Pure beings are emanated from good deeds, their bodies are adorned with excellent marks and signs, their minds are filled with many qualities, and they live in the joy of Dharma at all times. With unobstructed miraculous powers that flash like lightning, they travel through many Buddha-fields, accumulate infinite merits before the Buddhas, and then return to their own pure lands, enjoying joy and happiness. This is the occasion for speaking about the common qualities of adornment that make the pure land beautiful with sentient beings. Furthermore, the retinue of the Buddha in that field is twofold: Shravakas and Bodhisattvas. Even if one wanted to count the first gathering of the Shravaka retinue, even if someone like Maudgalyayana's son, who possesses immeasurable miraculous powers, could count all the stars in the three thousand worlds in a single day and night, even if he counted for hundreds of thousands of kotis of kalpas without doing anything else, he would not be able to count even a fraction of them, let alone the second and third gatherings. There are such countless Shravaka retinues, and all of them have a light of one fathom. This is the description of the qualities of the Shravaka retinue. The Bodhisattva retinue is immeasurable in number and possesses infinite and boundless qualities.

Moreover, endowed with an equal mind, a beneficial mind, and a loving mind towards all sentient beings. The mind-stream deeply understands the illusory nature, wisdom is as vast as the great ocean, and the mind is as lofty as Mount Sumeru. Having accumulated many virtues, it is like Mount Sumeru due to the excellence of wisdom. Because there is no disturbance, it is like the great ocean. By enduring the good and bad of all sentient beings, it is like the earth. By washing away the defilements of afflictions, it is like flowing water. Regarding all dharmas as arrogance and burning away afflictions, it is like the king of fire. Because there is no attachment to all worlds, it is like the wind. For all dharmas, being definitely ascertained and not clinging to anything, it is like the sky. Because it is not stained by all the faults of the world, it is like a lotus. Because it clearly proclaims Dharma and non-Dharma, it is like a great dragon that follows the times. Because it manifestly pours down the rain of Dharma, it is like a great cloud. Because it overwhelms the great assembly, it is like a supreme bull. The mind is supremely tamed, like an elephant. Extremely tamed, like a good thoroughbred horse. Because of skill and fearlessness, it is fearless, like the king of beasts, the lion. Because it completely protects all sentient beings, it is like the king of trees, the banyan tree. Because it cannot be moved by all external attacks, it is like the king of mountains, Mount Sumeru. Because it meditates on immeasurable love, it is like the sky. Because it is the forerunner of mastering all virtuous dharmas, it is like the Great Brahma. Because there is no accumulation of dwelling, it is like a bird. Because it completely destroys all external attacks, it is like the king of birds, Garuda. Because it is difficult to appear in the world, it is like the Udumbara flower. Beating the great drum of Dharma, blowing the great conch of Dharma, raising the great banner of Dharma, holding the great pennant of Dharma, making the great lamp of Dharma brightly blaze. In the presence of countless billions of hundreds of thousands of myriads of Buddhas, planting many roots of virtue, praised by the Victorious Ones. Because diligently guarding the faultless precepts, the mind-stream is as pure as lapis lazuli. Hearing about all dharmas.
