Or, if one thinks that not keeping anything in mind and not meditating on anything is the best way to meditate; not looking at anything is the best way to see; not doing anything is the best way to act. If one says so, then the one who speaks like that seems to have good experience and realization. If that is the case, then not doing virtuous deeds is the same as doing virtuous deeds, and the obscurations that have not been purified are also purified. If that is the case, since there are no obstacles, one does not necessarily have to stay in a mountain cave, and it is okay to do whatever comes to mind. Perhaps there is a time when one can do that, but since one has not yet reached that level, it is important to be cautious. Or, if one thinks that seeing nothing is the best way to see, and not looking at anything is the best way to see, as the Victorious Ones have said, what does that mean? If one earnestly seeks and remains impartial, then the meaning is very profound, and it is not the previous crude understanding. I want to pour out the original instructions that I received from my learned father and guru, but it seems that the time is not yet ripe, so I will ask others about it. Furthermore, it is said that meditating on emptiness is supreme. So, what is the emptiness that is to be meditated upon? If one thinks it is that which is not established anywhere, then the result of meditating on that which is not established anywhere can only be that which is not established anywhere, so such meditation is not supreme. However, if one thinks that the meaning of emptiness is precisely not focusing on anything, then what is the meaning of not focusing on anything? If one thinks it is not allowing any conceptual thoughts to arise, then how does one give alms without focusing on the three spheres (giver, recipient, and gift)? If conceptual thoughts arise about the giver, recipient, and gift, then that is considered alms with attachment. If no conceptual thoughts arise about all three, then ordinary beings do not know how to give alms. However, if one thinks that giving alms without clinging to the three as real is giving alms that is completely pure in the three spheres, then what does it mean to not cling to reality? Is it stopping the previous conceptual thoughts? Or is it clinging to the negativity of thinking that there is no reality? Furthermore, the saying that all phenomena are not real is coming out of everyone's mouth like the wind. I would like to ask them this: put aside all phenomena for a moment, first of all, is our own person real?

What is the meaning of non-inherent existence? If it were to truly exist, what would it be like? For example, it is impossible for a rabbit to have horns on its head, but if it were to exist, one should imagine in one's mind that it would be formed in such a way. Similarly, one should also imagine that the way of truly existing would be like this. Why is that necessary? If one thinks that grasping "I" as true is the same as (non-inherent existence), then meditating on "I" as non-inherent existence also becomes grasping "I" as not true, and both of these are merely assumptions without any reason. If one thinks that not being established anywhere is the meaning of non-inherent existence, then that view is a nihilistic view and should be abandoned. Furthermore, is there a difference between not grasping as true and grasping as not true? If there is no difference, then there is no difference between not doing evil and doing good. If that is the case, then there is also no difference between non-non-virtue and virtue, and thus, the unspecified, which is neither virtue nor non-virtue, would be impossible to exist. Merely not being evil would have to become good, and in that case, the three, good, bad, and middling, would be impossible to exist. If there is a difference between not grasping as true and grasping as not true, please tell me what the difference is. Furthermore, some people think that when they carefully observe this mind to see what color and shape it is established as, and when they see that neither of these is established anywhere, that is seeing the mind. If that is the case, then when one carefully observes a sharp and long horn to see whether it is established on the head of a donkey or the head of a horse, and when one sees that neither of these is established anywhere, is that seeing the horn? Also, some people observe whether the mind is a color or a shape, and when they do not see either of them, they introduce it by saying that the mind is not established. If that is the case, then when one carefully observes whether this dog is a lion or a fox, and when one does not see either of them, can one say that the dog is not established? These two are the same. For example, just as a dog is not a lion or a fox, it does not mean that it is not established. Similarly, just as the mind is not a color or a shape, it does not mean that it is not established. That is the meaning. Furthermore, some people, when observing the mind in that way, do not see any color or shape.
