What is the reason for that? However, evil deeds can also destroy good deeds. In the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra, it says, "The alms and worship of the Sugatas accumulated in a thousand kalpas, all virtuous deeds, are destroyed by a single anger." If you think so, then any good deeds done by such a person are destroyed by evil deeds, so that it is impossible to produce results. Then, can it be admitted that the person's doing good deeds is wrong? Or do you think that good and evil are mixed up, so that neither of them produces results? If so, then if barley and beans are planted together in the same field, will the two be mixed up and neither of them produce results? Or can it be admitted that barley is strong and destroys beans, so that the fruit of beans is not produced? However, if it is like that metaphor, the fruits of the two will ripen separately, and they will not harm each other. If so, then good deeds will not harm evil deeds. Then, what is the intention of saying that by relying on good deeds, the karmic obscurations of the five inexpiable sins can be completely eliminated? If that scripture is true, then what is the intention of that scripture in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra? The meaning of that in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra is that if a moment of anger can destroy all the good deeds accumulated in a thousand kalpas, then can it be admitted that all the good deeds done before a moment of anger arises become meaningless? If it can be admitted, then now a moment of anger arises, and the possibility of it arising in the future is also very high. Furthermore, all the good deeds of confessing sins that were done before are also destroyed by that one moment of anger later, so the sins that were purified by relying on confession must also return and mature into results, can that also be admitted? If you don't put your mind to these, then saying that we are the masters of karma and its results is just done as a matter of faith. In short, meditating on the suffering of the lower realms, taking refuge, karma and its results, confessing sins, these seem to be regarded as easy practices by some practitioners nowadays, but in the mind of a person like me who is lacking in wisdom and effort, and low in experience and realization, these still seem very important and difficult. Represented by these, there are many others, but I have not written them down for fear of being verbose. In general, the teachings spoken by the Victorious Ones
