The transgressions are common. Those who are not yet twenty years old should know that having vowed to rely on (a spiritual friend), even if a day has passed. Gradually, monks, nuns, novices, novice nuns, laymen, and laywomen, these are not common. If a root downfall occurs, and the holy Dharma disappears, there are also those who advocate abandoning the vows. The Kashmir Sarvastivadins, when a root downfall occurs to those who hold vows, consider it like being heavily in debt. By guarding these vows, the temporary result is gods and humans, and the ultimate result is the three enlightenments. Because (the Buddha) said so, diligent ones should always diligently guard the Pratimoksha vows with respect. May all sentient beings who are born from this virtue always abide in celibacy. Thus, this is called "The Determination of the Pratimoksha Vows - A Condensed Essence of the Ocean of Discipline," composed by the poet Shar Tsongkhapa Lobsang Drakpa, born at the edge of the snowy land. To this, the response of Je Redawa, a disciple of Tsongkhapa: In the midst of solitary talks, it seems that this teaching has a special method and key to guiding with renunciation and bodhicitta. Write it down in detail on paper and expand upon it, and it would be great if it were transmitted from the U-Tsang region. This is the response. Approaching the contemplation of renunciation and bodhicitta in a special way, and a way of guiding with a definite order. Again, the subsequent request letter accepting the teachings of the venerable one. In general, for this too, is the reply to the previous request letter. If combined with Redawa's response, it seems it would be more beneficial, because from the response it can be seen that the three dharmas of renunciation, etc., are instructions extracted from the key points and lifeblood of practice. Moreover, renunciation also exists in the continuums of three types of people. The nature of the three dharmas, and how to generate them in the continuum, the extent to which they are generated, and the way to guide these three in a definite order, and the way in which one's own four Madhyamaka views arise, if the previous and subsequent request letters are organized together, it would be more beneficial, so here I have only written a table of contents. That is to say, in general, eliminating the extreme of existence with emptiness and eliminating the extreme of non-existence with appearance, this is common between the Svatantrika and Prasangika schools, so the characteristic of the Prasangika school is that it eliminates the extreme of existence with appearance and eliminates the extreme of non-existence with emptiness, and emptiness

It is necessary to understand how it functions as cause and effect, and to acknowledge as one's own system that the phenomena of samsara and nirvana arise from causes and produce effects, and that this is not deceptive. By that very fact, there are countless ways in which it becomes emptiness that abandons all extremes. Moreover, it is not that one says that cause and effect are not deceptive to others, but that one does not acknowledge any distinction between deception and non-deception in one's own system. If one does not examine, one sees that cause and effect are not deceptive, but if one examines, one does not find the conclusion that "this is it." Once one truly sees cause and effect, one thinks that the two are combined on the same basis, and thus one thinks that dependent arising and emptiness are not different. In reality, it is not like that, but rather because one sees that arising from causes and producing effects is not deceptive, that very thought can produce an emptiness that does not rely on other thoughts and in which the object of focus disappears. Furthermore, the very reason that cause and effect are not deceptive can establish an emptiness that does not rely on other signs and is free from extremes such as existence. Therefore, one must have a deep conviction from the depths of one's heart that cause and effect are not deceptive, and from there, a non-attachment that abandons all objects of focus will also arise. That is to say, although there are many kinds of Dharma in general, what becomes the cause of liberation is renunciation, the mind of enlightenment, and pure view. Now, let alone having experience of these three, even having pure understanding is rare. Of these, the understanding of the first two cannot plant the seed of liberation, but the latter is powerful and can plant the seed. If one merely understands the first two, but has an experience that turns the mind to the path, one can plant the seed. That is to say, if one makes the object and image of focus in the mind through intense effort, and the mind is transformed by the power of habit, then the experience of effort arises, which can plant the seed of liberation, but has not yet reached the beginning of the path. Merely remembering the happiness and wealth of samsara, and merely remembering sentient beings, can produce an experience that makes renunciation and bodhicitta continuous, which can only plant a small amount of merit. That is to say, by remembering and seeing the faults of samsara and the benefits of liberation, relying on mindfulness, not giving the mind to external appearances, but striving to escape the bonds of samsara, and by becoming accustomed to focusing the mind on the benefits of liberation, no matter which virtue one becomes accustomed to—giving, ethics, patience, diligence, or meditation—without having produced an experience of renunciation, it can never become the cause of liberation. Therefore, one who desires liberation must first seek the most profound instruction, and all others are…
