Gala! Composed by wise men with pure intentions, If there are any contradictions in the explanation of the profound path instructions, I confess to the wise. Whoever possesses pure karma, Should abandon the habits of self and others. Even if others strive for eons, It is extremely difficult to compose beautiful poetry. Composed with pure intentions, The wise are amazed by this. Even if slandered by attachment and hatred, It only reveals one's own mark to others. As for me, trembling and fear, When will I ever have them? This was written at the urging of the virtuous friend Spawo, By Shar Tsongkhapa Lobsang Drakpa, whose lotus of wisdom blossomed upon most of the teachings of the Sugata. May all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas residing in the ten directions, together with the patrons of generosity and their retinues, heed this. Taking this vast root of virtue arising from generosity as a representation, relying on the power of the roots of virtue accumulated by oneself and others in the past, present, and future, May the minds of the noble lamas, the Sugatas, especially be completely fulfilled more and more. May the root of all benefit and happiness, the precious teachings of the Buddha Bhagavan, spread and flourish in all directions. May all the holy beings who uphold the precious teachings through explanation and practice have good health and long lives. May their pure activities spread and flourish in all directions. May the ten practices of the Sangha increase and flourish. Through its blessings and compassion, may all obstacles and hindrances to the liberation and omniscience of the patrons of generosity be pacified. May favorable conditions such as life, glory, wealth, and merit increase and flourish more and more like the waxing moon. Furthermore, relying on the power of these roots of virtue, May we be able to uphold all the holy Dharma of the Buddhas, just as the Buddhas intended, in all lifetimes from now until we attain Buddhahood. May all the necessities of my life be accomplished smoothly without any effort. To eliminate obstacles and create favorable conditions, may the oath-bound protectors who have vowed to protect the teachings and the fourfold community, having previously seen the Buddhas, heard the sacred Dharma, and relied on the noble Sangha, assist without a moment's delay. May all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas residing in the ten directions pay attention to me, who am called by this name. May the person named so-and-so, through the power of these roots of virtue gathered by the three bases, attain the precious state of Buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings as vast as the sky. In all lifetimes before attaining that state, may I be the best among those of noble birth and beautiful form. May I be the best among those who are long-lived and free from illness. May I be the best among those who are wealthy and have great power. May I be the best among those who have great wisdom and great faith. May I be the best among those who are learned and uphold the precepts. May I be the best among those who are generous and know shame and embarrassment. Furthermore, through the power of these roots of virtue, may rain fall in due season in all realms of the world. May crops always be abundant. May all diseases of humans and animals be completely eradicated. May all conflicts of the times be pacified. May all evil thoughts and actions of cruel sentient beings be pacified. May all sentient beings dwell in love for each other like parents. May all sentient beings be content with their own possessions, enjoyments, and powers. May all sentient beings be completely liberated from the bonds of Mara. May all sentient beings have happiness. May all the lower realms be forever empty. Wherever Bodhisattvas reside, may all their aspirations be fulfilled. May there be goodness and joy in the mandala of the Buddhas. And so on. This was composed by the glorious Losang Drakpa.

This deceased person, named so-and-so, from beginningless samsara, has given alms, kept vows, practiced meditation, and so on, has done immeasurable roots of virtue, or asked others to do them, or rejoiced in what others have done. Also, other related people, for the sake of this deceased person, have offered to the Lama and the Three Jewels, have offered to the Sangha, respected them, given alms to the poor, recited dharani mantras, proclaimed the scriptures, entered the mandala and received empowerment, repented of sins, and so on. Relying on the power of these roots of virtue, this deceased person, named so-and-so, if due to the power of karma, he is born or will be born in any of the six realms, may all these roots of virtue follow him and enter his life. Having entered, may he also be liberated from the sufferings of each of the six realms, and quickly attain perfect enlightenment. Thus it is said. If he does not attain such an accomplishment, may he obtain a leisure and endowed human body in all lifetimes. May he possess the seven qualities of the heavens, may he possess the seven riches of the noble ones, may he never be separated from seeing the Buddha in all lifetimes, may he never be separated from hearing the Dharma, may he never be separated from serving the holy Sangha. Furthermore, in all lifetimes, may he give alms without expecting retribution, may he keep vows that are free from desire for rebirth in samsara, may he cultivate patience without hatred towards sentient beings, may he diligently accumulate all roots of virtue, may he enter into meditation that eliminates the formless realms, may he realize and comprehend the meaning of the Prajnaparamita that is inseparable from skillful means and great compassion. May this deceased person, named so-and-so, be reborn in the pure and joyful mandala of the Buddhas. Thus dedicate.
