Also named Losang, these are your own exhortations, Gyalkhampa. Without distraction, listen carefully with your ear consciousness. Examine them thoroughly with scripture and reasoning. It is appropriate to practice the meanings spoken here. You have indulged in the three poisons before, from beginningless time until now. In this ignorance, you have wandered countless times, experiencing unbearable sufferings of various kinds. If you still indulge in these, then there will be no escape from the three lower realms again. Alas, can you endure the suffering of the lower realms? How sad, you should abandon those causes from now on. Thus he spoke. He asked: Then, is there a way not to be born there? How great is the suffering there? What is the cause of experiencing that suffering? He replied: The ways not to be born in the lower realms are, I will tell you, listen carefully, Gyalkhampa. Take refuge in the Three Jewels, the refuge that will never deceive you in the short or long term. These sentient beings, from beginningless time, have been my, kind mothers who have nurtured me with kindness. Therefore, in order to place these old mothers in enlightenment, generate the supreme mind of enlightenment. All the sutras and treatises that have been spoken, in order to understand the meaning taught by the virtuous spiritual friend, in a solitary place, alone, abandoning distractions, abide single-pointedly. Afterwards, with virtue and the like as examples, all the roots of virtue included in both samsara and nirvana, for the sake of mothers equal to space, with the union of the method of the three circles being pure and wisdom, abandoning the gatherings of imputation and denial, dedicate them to the ground of the ten powers. Wherever you dwell, if the gatherings of afflictions such as the three poisons increase like the waxing moon, and the white side diminishes like the stars at dawn, Gyalkhampa, quickly abandon the evil place. Various kinds of lotus flowers bloom immeasurably, and those with six legs sing joyful songs, making sweet sounds, Gyalkhampa, rely on the solitary sacred place. Even if you only know the words but do not direct your mind to the meaning, having hatred and tormenting thoughts towards those who strive in discipline, the image of the lama who is completely distracted by the winds of partisanship, Gyalkhampa, you should abandon. Understand the way things are.

Those who tame the senses, just seeing them captivates the minds of others, just relying on them increases virtue and decreases faults, rely on the excellent spiritual friend, and Gyal Khampa. Like an unruly wild horse, like an angry poisonous snake, just associating with them brings ruin to oneself and others, those who cut off the lifeblood of liberation, quickly abandon bad friends, and Gyal Khampa. The wild animals that are far from harming others, and the sweet sounds that create happiness in the retinue when heard, the assembly of virtuous youths who constantly proclaim them, rely on such friends, and Gyal Khampa. If one acts as instructed in this way, one will not be born in any of the unfortunate realms, and one will attain the state of temporary higher realms and ultimate definite goodness, Gyal Khampa. The answer to the first question is complete. Hey! Gyal Khampa, listen again. The magnitude of the suffering of the three lower realms is divided into three types, the greatest of which is the suffering of the hells, which is also divided into hundreds and thousands of types of hot and cold suffering. Uninterrupted) and other eight hot hells. Blisters, broken blisters, tight teeth, Achuchu, Sotanma, cracked like Utpala flowers, cracked greatly like lotuses, thus the eight cold hells. The neighboring hells such as the fire pit, corpse dung mud, and razor blade plain, and the solitary hells located in indefinite places such as the seashore, etc., total eighteen types. In these hells, the suffering of the later ones is more difficult to endure than the earlier ones. In short, with unbearable hot and cold suffering, there is torment everywhere, and there is no opportunity for liberation. The medium suffering is the suffering of the pretas, which is also divided into three types: external, internal, and obstructed food. Those with external obstructions, even in the ocean, see pus and blood, etc., and have no opportunity to enjoy them. Those with internal obstructions cannot find food, etc., and even if they find a little, it cannot enter their throats, and they have no ability to enjoy it. Those with obstructed food, whatever they eat or drink, all turns into a chain of flames, burning themselves. In short, there is unbearable suffering from hunger and thirst, torment everywhere, and no opportunity for liberation. The small one is the animal.
