It is forbidden to do otherwise. In the common gathering place for the Sojong, those who appear to be renunciates without any of the signs or vows of ordination should not participate in the Sojong together. If they possess the signs and vows, the Gekö (overseer of monks) should examine and then allow them to participate. Furthermore, if one stays only for the duration of one Dharma session and cannot abstain from alcohol and afternoon meals for as long as they live, then it is forbidden to participate in the Sojong and summer retreat together. When the first bell for the Sangha's meal is rung, one should complete all the necessary preliminary actions, such as physical conduct. When the second bell for the meal and the bell for listening to the Dharma are rung, one should not gather until the bell has rung. As soon as it rings, one should gather with dignified conduct. In the general assembly of the Sangha, those who do not have the two robes of a renunciate and those who do not have vows should not be allowed to enter. If they have signs such as being specially invited by a patron, the Gekö should examine and then allow them to enter. Whether they are newcomers or permanent residents, no renunciate should wear unsewn clothes or leather in the assembly. One should not consume food inside leather. In general, those who stay in this monastery for more than half a month should also act in this way for the duration of their stay. Since one abides by the great Vinaya, one should always act in this way. Wherever one gathers, one should be seated in the Vinaya row. If someone stays in this monastery for only one Dharma session, they should be seated in the Vinaya row in the assembly as usual. One should do the general affairs of the Sangha. If there are householders who wish to become renunciates or who have been specially invited by a patron, one should not give the Sangha's food, clothes, and other offerings to householders unless the Gekö has requested permission from the Sangha and then given it. One must act according to the strict teachings. The Sangha's food should be distributed equally, and except for those who are sick, those who live outside the boundary of the monastery and do not cross it, and those who are specially offered by a patron, those who have not gathered in the assembly should not take a share of the food. Furthermore, except for the necessary preliminary actions such as preparing to leave before the common meal, one should not take a share in advance. One should not waste offerings, and the Sangha's common offerings.

Regarding whether or not those who have fully taken the vows of a Bhikshu receive the same benefits, it should be done as stated in the Vinaya. In the regular Sangha Dharma practice, recite the "Ten Verses of Abiding," the Mandala including the seven-branch offering, and the "Tara Sutra." In order to prolong the lives of the venerable upholders of the teachings, recite the mantra of Amitayus one hundred and eight times, and offer one hundred and eight tormas. Just as the Sangha's elder encourages the Sangha to purify their conduct, do not engage in idle talk at any time during Sangha gatherings. Do not talk about other matters during Dharma practice. If these two rules are violated, the Gekö (monitor) should have the violator prostrate in the middle of the Sangha and request forgiveness. Unless there is a sudden event, do not leave the seat before the dedication is finished. No individual should use any of the Sangha's utensils, even small containers, except for items that are needed and appropriate for the Sangha. If used, the Gekö should announce the fault to the Sangha and order them to ask for forgiveness. Fighting with hands, any theft (large or small), and engaging in situations that raise suspicion of breaking vows (even if no actual sexual act occurs) are prohibited in this monastery. Those who commit the above offenses will be expelled, and anyone who harbors them will also be expelled. Those who have taken the vows of a novice monk, Bhikshu, and higher vows, and have joined the above-mentioned discipline system and have resided here for more than one year, the above three reasons for expulsion also apply when going to other places. It is forbidden to cultivate land personally, to drink alcohol and eat afternoon food without restraint, to intervene in disputes, to sleep overnight in the same place with a woman who is not a relative without the company of other monks (to avoid violating the first of the root vows), and to leave without a valid reason, or without confessing offenses against the Sangha's internal rules. Those who violate the above rules will not be allowed to be readmitted to this monastery. If someone becomes ill, the Gekö of the area where the illness occurs is responsible for taking care of it. If the patient has their own offerings, that is best. If not, if the Sangha has public property, it should be provided from that. If there is none, pray to the Buddha.
