May I attain great wisdom! To discern the subtle points of all things, may I attain wisdom as sharp as a blade of kusha grass! May I attain clear wisdom! When the mind is stirred by the stains of ignorance, wrong views, and doubt, may I attain swift wisdom that can immediately stop them! For the profound and vast subjects, even in each good aspect, may I attain deep wisdom that enters without obstruction! In short, may I be like Manjushri, with wisdom free from faults, with discernment that accomplishes the benefit of self and others! This is a gift offered from Dechen on the twenty-fifth, offering a wiping cloth as a token. This is advice to Yarlung Jowo. Om, may there be auspiciousness! The wealth of existence is like a dream feast, and the pursuit of worldly gain and honor is like the heartwood of a water tree. Those who see through these things and follow the path praised by the Buddhas, teaching without laziness, they will prevail! Intoxicated by the wine of attachment to the world, obscured by the thick darkness of delusion, trapped in the cage of self-grasping, and falling into the prison of endless birth and death. Tormented by the terrifying Yama of karma, and wearied by the heavy burden of suffering. For the laws of samsara, this talk of renunciation will be elaborated with the ornaments of poetry. May the great waves of compassion flow unceasingly! May the immeasurable depth of wisdom, the great treasure of the Sugata's (Buddha Shakyamuni) virtuous water, grant us the precious human body with leisure and opportunity, which is so difficult to find. Once obtained, life has no spare time, do not be lazy again and again. As days and nights pass, and age reaches its end, when the Lord of Death arrives, it will be too late to regret. The news of the death of companions who were with you, even if heard or seen, does not awaken the mind. Like the remnants of livestock being led to the slaughterhouse, even seeing the butcher, the mind remains at ease. On the vast path of existence, driven by the wind of karma. The sun of life of sentient beings, the Lord of Death, is on the peak of the western mountain. If it has not yet set, then no one has seen any sentient being here who will not die. Weak, full of harmful conditions, do I have a place of immortality? If it is certain that I will die, but I mistakenly think that I can stay forever. Knowing this, but still indulging in it, that is like an animal.

Alas! Even animals are afraid when they see a cliff. Since the end of birth is death, why not fear it? Like a strong wind extinguishing a row of lamps, And like the light of the sun dispelling the army of shadows. If the power of life is unstable and falls into the hands of a demon, how can one expect to live long? Since death is certain, why postpone the affairs of the next life? Since there is no time to stay in this life, how can one be greedy for the coming years? Since flesh and bones will eventually separate, why be attached to relatives and friends? Since one must go alone, what other refuge is there besides the Dharma? When friends and loved ones surround you, The sword of the disturbed elements strikes the body, Unbearable pain seizes the mind, When tossing and turning on a bed soiled with excrement and urine, Lying motionless with closed eyes, Limbs emaciated, hair standing on end, Flesh depleted, only bones remain, That ascetic covered with black skin, Undertakes austerities, fasting during the day, And at night, refrains from the pleasure of sleep, Striving to recite powerful mantras of lamentation, Yet cannot move a single hair of the Lord of Death. At that time, the loving relatives, Gather around him in a flurry, Gazing at his face with loving eyes, Tears washing the contours of his face, The mind dwelling in the meditation of sorrow, The mouth uttering cries of lamentation, Beating the chest with a staff, In the end, only reaping the fruit of futile exhaustion. The consciousness, the person, departs to the next life, The city of the body becomes like an abandoned village, The rootless consciousness is scattered by the wind of karma, When wandering confused in an unfamiliar direction, Apart from the power of accumulated karma, The friends and loved ones who shared joy for so long, The wealth accumulated through much hardship, Not even a sesame seed can be taken along. Thinking of this, like the impermanence of lightning, For the sake of the fleeting happiness of this life, To create the cause of suffering that must be endured for eons, Who would willingly do that? Power is as fleeting as a dreamlike kingdom, Youth vanishes as quickly as an archer's bow, Fame is as empty as an echo, Wealth is like
