Of. Seeing that cause and effect never deceive, Whatever the object of focus, all disintegrates, That is entering the path that pleases the Buddha. Appearance is dependent arising, not deceiving, Emptiness is the understanding of being free from assertions, these two. As long as they appear separately, Until then, the intention of the Able One is not realized. When, without alternation, simultaneously, From the very moment of seeing dependent arising as not deceiving, If all grasping at the object of ascertainment disintegrates, Then that is when the examination of view is complete. Moreover, appearance dispels the extreme of existence, Emptiness dispels the extreme of non-existence, and emptiness itself, Knowing the way it arises as cause and effect, One will not be robbed by extremist views. Thus, for the path, Of the three principal ones, When you yourself realize the key points as they are, You should rely on solitude, generate the strength of diligence, Quickly accomplish the ultimate benefit, child. This was the instruction of the greatly learned monk, Lobsang Drakpa Pal, to the official of Tsha-kho (present-day Rangtang County, Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province), Ngawang Drakpa. May the successor of the guide, the Victorious One, and, The treasure of wisdom, Jetsun, and the feet of Nagarjuna, The deeds of the noble Asanga and others, Always enter into you, the fortunate one. May the vast intellect be as vast as the sky, May the outstanding faith be as firm as the king of mountains, May the burden of the teachings never tire, May the spiritual friend known as Ngawang Drakpa, That supreme one who strives in discipline, from the two great chariots, The path of the three types of individuals, well transmitted, The ocean of good explanations, the stages of the path to enlightenment, By the garland of letters, grant glory to the eyes, The mind that contemplates meaning is satiated with nectar, it is said, With a letter that is pleasing to the ear and falls upon the mind, And a supreme garment of thin, soft, light, reddish-brown color, Accompanied by a pair of leather shoes, the offerings were sent. Like a new bride tasting the flavor of vegetables, Even if one cultivates good explanations for a long time, it is difficult to tire of them, Like the root consciousness that tastes flavor, Experiencing it for a moment is wonderful. Nowadays, for the genuine and the apparent, The distinction of paths is extremely rare to know, Even if there is one in a hundred, for a good explanation to be a good explanation, Knowing it as it is is just like that. Therefore, for the key points of the profound and vast path, Even for the subtle ones, obtain unfeigned certainty, Also

When I see the words written on paper, my mind is satisfied, for I have obtained the fruit of long labor. Wishing to lead sentient beings, both directly and indirectly, to the state attained by the Lord of Dharma, he proclaimed the order of the Sutras and Tantras. From the establishment of the path to liberation and omniscience as it appears in the Sutras, taking it as the foundation of the entirety of the Buddha's teachings, and adding to it the essence of the path of Tantra for a few superior beings, this is to hold the Buddha's teachings in their entirety. This is also the common wish of all Tibetan and Chinese scholars who see all scriptures as instructions. In order to understand this, I have for many years relied on remote places, based on upholding the vows I have undertaken, striving to accumulate and purify, and combining many conducive conditions, as well as the cause of practicing the visualization of the complete body of the path. Thus, I have roughly seen the direction of the path of Sutra and Tantra that pleases the wise. Entirely motivated by devotion to the Dharma, first I have written down the order of the path of the common vehicle. Regarding this, whether the body of the path is complete or not, how to ascertain the order of the path, and how to practice and guide from the small parts of the path, and especially, to clearly explain quiescence and insight in accordance with the view of the great treatises, when you truly wish to practice, you must ascertain those great treatises that are the standard for the essential points of practice, and abandon them. If you do not generate the intention to focus on practice, and you strive day and night on these, but do not turn your mind to how to show the practice, but only see it as a tool for mastering vocabulary, if you only touch upon the common words of the many different interpretations of the meaning of each treatise, and think that you have thoroughly understood them, let alone in times like the present. The wise men of past times abandoned the trivialities of this life, learned many disciplines, and pondered what the essential points of practice were, those who desired knowledge, having taken it up with the desire to practice, even after long study, found it difficult to measure. Therefore, do not be easily satisfied with the experience of circling on the path, but call upon and repeatedly pray for the causes and conditions as previously stated.
