Those are the treatises of reasoning, such as the Collection of Reasonings, which ascertain that it must be exactly as it is, without being distorted. In that case, it is possible that some special individuals who have completely trained in the past may comprehend the profound meaning in this life even without long training. However, such a case is extremely difficult, so when others seek with reasonings such as one and many, even if they promise another gateway to easily enter by naming it a general cutting off of elaboration, they cannot please those with intelligence. Thus, by studying and seeking with scripture and reason, there arise two ways of understanding, correct and incorrect. The first is that when analyzing the arising and ceasing of all phenomena, etc., with various doors of reasoning, all conventional establishments are destroyed, and one cannot find any grasping of "what is this?" All bondage and liberation become like the bondage and liberation of a barren woman's son. The arising of happiness and suffering from virtue and non-virtue becomes no different from a rabbit's horn, and all conventions become inverted conventions, and all conceptual thoughts are understood as mistaken consciousnesses confused about the object of attachment. Thus, in seeing the meaning of the Middle Way, one of two things happens: One says, "If that is the case, all establishments are unreasonable, so the view that all phenomena are without inherent existence is a nihilistic view and not the intention of the Victorious Ones." Thus, by abandoning the Perfection of Wisdom, even other karmic obscurations, which are extremely unbearable, can be purified by relying on the view of emptiness, but for this, as it is said, "Having abandoned, without refuge, that one goes to Avici," since there is no other protection or reliance, one must remain in Avici for a very long time, as it is said in the chapter on sentient beings in hell. One is that with the mind holding onto the side of emptiness, and all the mind training in the vast aspects such as taking refuge, cultivating the mind of enlightenment, meditating on the generation stage, and all the hearing and thinking are regarded as being established by conceptual thought, and all conceptual thoughts are seen as binding to samsara, thus slandering and abandoning all virtuous actions, merely opening the door to bad migrations. Neither of these two has comprehended the meaning of emptiness, except for manifest pride.

Although similar, the former lacks the cause of faith in emptiness, while the latter grasps the cause of faith. If the meaning of emptiness is grasped in a reversed manner, then even faith will be burned. If one grasps it wrongly and desires hatred, it is meaningless. The Ratnavali says: "The faithful, due to wrong grasping, and the other, angered by hatred, if it is said that even the faithful are burned, then how can hatred mature?" It also says: "If this Dharma is understood wrongly, even the unwise are afraid, though small. Those who view it as non-existent will sink into impurity. Furthermore, if this is grasped wrongly, fools become arrogant with wisdom, and by abandoning it, they become cruel and will go to Avici hell." Therefore, the way to generate an undeluded understanding is as stated in the Bodhicittavivarana: "Having understood that all dharmas are empty, whoever teaches karma and its results, this is more wonderful than wonderful, more amazing than amazing." And as stated in the Stotra Praising the Praiseworthy: "He does not abandon the nature of reality, and he also conforms to conventional reality." Thus, no matter what kind of object of true grasping is grasped, if one can see without even a speck of attachment, and if, based on that, one can gain a deep certainty that "this arises from this" in relation to all things such as bondage and liberation, karma and its results, then of these two, if one first makes the former one's own valid side, then the latter does not need to be transferred to the face of others or to the face of delusion in order to accommodate one's own system. If one sees that both are valid in one's own system, then that is wonderful and amazing, because for most people, one has obtained the skillful means to understand things that appear contradictory as non-contradictory. Therefore, understanding emptiness must make the establishment of samsara and nirvana valid. If it is valid before understanding it, but after understanding it, all establishments cease to exist, then there is no difference from the understanding of the substantialists. Therefore, one should understand that emptiness has not yet been understood. The Root Verses on the Middle Way say: "If all these are empty, there is no arising and no ceasing. The four noble truths will necessarily not exist for you." This is a refutation of the argument that if everything is empty of inherent existence, then the establishment of samsara and nirvana is not possible. If all these are not empty, there is no arising and no
