If there is also fault with the teacher? The answer to that is: Generating the root downfall of abandoning bodhicitta like Kundā is explained in the great commentary of the Kālacakra as desiring enlightenment through the bliss of the union of the two organs. The monk Dārika said that knowing the nature of unchanging bliss and accepting only the changing bliss, etc., are necessary as limbs. Then, if a householder vajra master who has not obtained the power to bind the channels loses bodhicitta, it is not a root downfall if the limbs of holding the bliss of the union of the two organs as a means to enlightenment are not complete. If the limbs such as that motivation are complete, then it becomes a root downfall. Furthermore, all the interdependent relationships that appear as outer and inner, although appearing as interdependent relationships, the cause and effect are not deceptive, but from the beginning, they are empty of inherent existence, and are liberated from all elaborations such as the four extremes. The nature of things is neither this nor that, not the object of conceptual thought, cannot be expressed in words, cannot be represented by reason and example, it is understood in the realm where wisdom is exhausted. Please consider whether the place of understanding is in accordance with the meaning, and please grant acceptance, decision, and instruction. The answer to the question is that without thoroughly determining the subtle methods of debate of Madhyamaka and Pramāṇa, many people of the snowy land make reckless judgments on subtle points, and they unanimously agree that things established by their own characteristics are pervaded by non-existence because of the absence of inherent existence, and for that reason, they believe that if it exists, it must exist truly. One group says that because it is without inherent existence, the cause and effect of happiness and suffering arising from good and bad deeds, and liberation, etc., are all unreasonable for Madhyamaka. Another group says that conventional truths are like that, but other than that, they are truly established. Both of these views have deviated from the system of the Madhyamaka school, because they have deviated from the system of Nāgārjuna, in which emptiness appears as interdependence; and they have successively fallen into the abyss of annihilationism and both extremes of permanence and annihilation. In particular, according to the latter system, the person who proves the truth and the scriptures and reasoning that prove it are also conventional truths, and because they are without inherent existence, they will become non-existent, so that

If one wants to establish some truth, one will bear the burden of the opposite. Therefore, it is said in the Root Wisdom: For whom emptiness is possible, for him everything is possible. If all this is not empty, there will be no arising and ceasing. Then, you will not have the four noble truths. As it is said. For the Madhyamika who establishes the doctrine of emptiness without inherent existence, all the establishments of samsara and nirvana must be reasonable. If inherent existence is not empty, arising and ceasing, bondage and liberation, etc., are not reasonable, so in order to establish arising and ceasing, bondage and liberation, etc., one must accept non-inherent existence. It should be understood in this way. If inherent existence does not exist, arising and ceasing are not possible, do not say the opposite that it is not possible. If one knows this, as it is said in the Bodhisattva Commentary: Knowing that all dharmas are empty and having certainty about karma and its effects is more wonderful than rare, and more amazing than wonderful. This is because one has obtained such a view, because one is certain that dependent arising and cause and effect are not deceptive, so one prevents the view of annihilation, and because one is certain of the emptiness without inherent existence in which the object of attachment to characteristics is not established even to the slightest extent, one is liberated from the extreme of permanence. Therefore, the view of being certain that cause and effect are not deceptive while the essence is empty is the key to cutting off the wrong paths of both permanence and annihilation, so it is a wonderful key. The need to seek a view in the beginning is also for the sake of meditating on the definitive meaning, and that is also for the sake of reversing self-grasping, so when meditating, one must also use discriminating wisdom to carefully examine the objects of the two kinds of self-grasping, and when one is certain that the characteristics of the two selves are not established at all, one should place the view there and continue to practice it. If one only cultivates the quiescence of abandoning the certainty of the view, then the root of samsara, self-grasping, will not be harmed at all. Seeing this meaning, the Lord of Reasoning said: If this object is not refuted, it cannot be abandoned. Arya Deva also said: If one sees the object as selfless, the seed of existence will be cut off. It is also said in the Samadhiraja Sutra: If one distinguishes and observes the selflessness of dharmas, if one distinguishes and observes it, if one meditates on it, that is the cause of obtaining the fruit of nirvana.
