When is emptiness indeed? When one sees dependent arising as its meaning, emptiness is by nature, and action is reasonable and not contradictory. If one sees it the other way around, action is not possible in emptiness, and emptiness is not possible with action, so it is said to fall into a dangerous abyss. Therefore, in your teachings, seeing dependent arising is highly praised. It is neither completely non-existent, nor is it existent by nature, like a flower in the sky without dependence. Therefore, without dependence, there is no existence. If it were established by its own essence, it would contradict relying on causes and conditions. Therefore, apart from arising from dependence, there is no other phenomenon that exists. It is said that apart from emptiness by nature, there is no other phenomenon. Because nature does not change, if phenomena had some nature, it would not be possible to pass beyond sorrow, and it is said that all elaborations would never cease. Therefore, it is said that there is no nature whatsoever, and this is well spoken again and again with the lion's roar in the assembly of the wise. Who could dare to oppose this? There is no nature whatsoever, and all the arrangements of this arising from that are both reasonable. What need is there to say that they are not contradictory and harmonious? Because of the reason of dependent arising, it is said that one does not rely on extreme views. This is well spoken, and this is the supreme reason for your speech, O Protector. All of this is empty of essence, and from this, this result arises. These two certainties help each other without hindrance, becoming friends. What could be more wonderful than this, and what could be more amazing than this? If one praises you in this way, it will be praise, and not otherwise. Whoever is enslaved by ignorance, whoever quarrels with you, what is surprising if they cannot bear the sound of no nature? Having accepted the precious treasury of your speech, dependent arising, and not being able to bear the lion's roar of emptiness, I am amazed at this. The door that leads to no nature, the unsurpassed name of dependent arising, if one grasps at nature by name alone, what can be done with these beings? On that good path that pleases you, the shore of immaculate purity, well trodden by the noble ones, by what means can one lead them? Nature is uncreated and independent, and dependent arising is dependent and created. These two

For example, on one basis, there is no contradiction, but things gather. Therefore, whatever arises dependently is primordially empty of inherent existence, yet appears as an illusion. This is what is said. Whatever you have taught, no opponent can find fault with in accordance with the Dharma. This is precisely because of this. Why? Because by explaining this, the opportunity for superimposition and denial on visible and invisible objects is cut off. Your words are unparalleled. The reason for seeing this is the path of dependent arising. Your other teachings are also certain to become valid cognitions. Having seen things as they are and spoken well, following you in learning, all decline will be far away, because the root of all faults is reversed. Turning away from your teachings, even if one exerts effort for a long time, faults will come one after another as if summoned, because the view of self will become more firm. Alas! If the wise understand the difference between these two, then from the depths of their hearts, why would they not be respectful to you? What more can be said about your many teachings? Even the meaning of just a part of them, even if only a rough understanding is gained, brings supreme bliss. Alas! My mind is destroyed by ignorance. Although I have long taken refuge in such a collection of qualities, I have not understood even a fraction of those qualities. However, as the stream of life has not yet ceased while facing the Lord of Death, I think it is good fortune that I have a little faith in you. Among teachers, the one who teaches dependent arising is the best; among wisdoms, the one who understands dependent arising is the best. In the world, like a king, you are excellent and skillful, unlike others. All the teachings you have given begin with and proceed from dependent arising. This is also for the sake of passing beyond sorrow. You have no other action than pacification. Alas! Your teachings, whatever enters the ears of beings, causes them to attain peace. Who would not respect the holders of your teachings? Destroying all opponents, being empty of contradictions, and bestowing the two benefits of beings, I am delighted in this system. For this reason, you have sometimes given your body and sometimes your life, beloved friends, and enjoyments.
