It is also permissible to go. Even if there are such conditions, one should not go anywhere without the monastic robe if permission has not been given and a hard surface has not been laid down. Thus, a special provision is made for having such conditions. Then, how is it that the commentary says, "If there are monks and so on, then there is no fault in going without the monastic robe"? This refers to the absence of rain, etc., and the presence of monks, etc. The former refers to the presence of rain, etc., and monks, etc. Otherwise, how would there be no contradiction? Thus, if there are no monks, etc., it is not permissible to put it down, and if it is raining, etc., it is not permissible to carry it. If both are present, what should be done? One should distinguish the difference between the two prohibitions. Then, if one has the conditions of rain, etc., so one puts down the monastic robe, and one also has to go to another village, and one cannot return on the same day, what should one do if one sees this situation? If one does not go to another place, then one should extract the blessing of the Dharma robe monastic robe and bless it, which is the ritual or form, that is, the method. What should one bless? Not only the ordained, but even the clothes of lay people, not only one's own, but even those borrowed from others, can be blessed. This treatise does not intend to express that if one leaves with the intention of returning, but does not return, one should extract the blessing of the monastic robe with one's mind and then give it to others. Because when going, if there is a prohibition against putting it down, one must carry it even if one wants to return. When there is no prohibition, if there is no prohibition against carrying it, one must carry it. If one returns, one does not need the intention of returning. Therefore, the commentary says, "Because of the conditions of rain, etc., one goes to another village without the monastic robe, and one cannot return on the same day, what should one do at that time?" Here it says "goes," not "cannot go." The root says "will not go," not "has not gone." Just like the explanation of the cushion, whether one has the intention of returning or not, it does not say anything, so it refers to the time of going to another place. If it is not like that, putting it down has no prohibition, and carrying it at the time of rain, etc., has faults, so putting it down is necessary, and one must go, and one must return on the same day.

If it is seen that one cannot return, one should consider what to do. If one initially sets out with the thought of being able to return, but even if one cannot return, one must explain what to do. In this regard, is it first combining the reasoning of the time of departure? Or examining obstacles, etc.? From the beginning, after selecting as mentioned above, one should examine which method is suitable for those who are departing. In the commentary, as indicated by the word "other place" in "blessings occur in another place," initially it is rough or thinking. In this way, there is nothing to be prevented in another place, and if there is fear on the road, or when precepts are established, one should take out the blessings of the monastic robe and bless others. At that time, does the monastic robe need other blessings? If so, what should be done? If one departs without rain, etc., one should examine the amount that needs to be carried. To what kind of object should the monastic robe, etc., be given? It is one whose monastic vows are pure, whose views and characteristics are consistent, who possesses three terms, who understands that the body is ordinary, who abides in the nature of the earth, and who belongs to a single boundary dependent on the Sangha, that is, possessing eight conditions. Below, if it is not specifically distinguished as "a monk possessing eight qualities," it should be understood as referring to this. On top of these eight conditions, adding being elderly and sick, and blessings that have not been previously associated, there are ten in total. The giving should be done by a Sangha possessing three characteristics. The basis is the monastic robe and the two heavy ones. The ritual is: preliminary work, such as arranging the dwelling, etc., and the main practice, two requests, and the concluding statement. Other destructive factors are: changed characteristics and non-fields, etc. The first situation is divided into two. A brief explanation is: who is the author of the separation and downfall? From the perspective of the Dharma robe, it is one who has blessings dependent on that support, and from the perspective of the person, it is one who has not obtained permission not to separate. Is that person the author in all circumstances? No, it is the monk who resides in another place from that place where the Dharma robe has been blessed, along with its surroundings, who is the author. Is it at all times? No, it is at dawn. In this regard, it is unreasonable to ask which of the three Dharma robes the robe refers to, because the cause of the blessing exists, and it does not cover the statement of blessing others. For the former, separation must be protected, otherwise the sound should not be shared by the support.
