On the basis of that, when a monastic gives robes to another monastic, if the former has relinquished the intention but the robes have not been given to the latter, the sutra states that they will not be abandoned. When explaining the meaning of this, even if the ownership of the robes and other items has been determined, they will not be abandoned because there is no perception of them being one's own. This is the meaning of the first sutra. Because the intention has been relinquished, the giver will not abandon them, which is the second meaning. Therefore, it is established that abandonment requires perception. Before learning about the giving, even if the giver thinks that they have given, the giver has already died. If both die, then the giving is blessed in the deceased giver's actions, and even if it is stolen in between, it is stolen from the giver, so it is the owner of what was not given. For the actions of the deceased, it is believed that they are placed in one's own state from the objects. In this way, if it reaches the place of giving, the giving is valid, and if it does not reach, it is similar to believing that whoever originally obtained the object owns it, which needs to be investigated. For those who have self-ownership, believing that they have ownership, and having doubts, both are fundamental. For those who do not have self-ownership, believing that they have ownership, and having doubts, the sutra states that these are misdeeds. This sutra is actually applied to holding in the sutras and commentaries, but the former ones, having obtained the meaning, apply it to the eighteen downfalls: the intermediate sin among the ten major sins, and the three from the beginning: holding, placing, arguing, and allowing. From the last, all the downfalls, that is, all holding are included. One's own major placing, and concealing, wiping, and accumulating, placing, these five. For those who have self-ownership, believing that they have it, and for those who have other-ownership, believing that they have it, and for those who have self-ownership, believing that others have it, and for those who have other-ownership, believing that they have it, what will these four situations become? The first situation is fundamental for all situations. The second situation, for holding two, placing, a span high, a large cloth, concealing and wiping, these six situations, there is no downfall. For precious jewels, there is only one situation, for eleven situations, it will become a misdeed. The third situation is the same as the previous six situations. Belonging to the situation of precious jewels, for eleven situations, it is a misdeed belonging to this situation. The fourth situation, for all situations, it is a misdeed of this situation. These are their views. The wrong idea here is: separation requires self-ownership, and when knowing that others have it, there is no downfall of accumulating and placing. This is the view of the former (sect), others

If it is thought that it cannot be abandoned, then, like this, allowing the bhikkhuni to be released from bondage, and also for the abandonment of special people, it becomes non-abandonment because there is no reason, and it must be said that the item was not lost before repentance. For the latter, it means that others save for him, or that there is no transgression in doing it yourself after knowing it under the control of others. If it is the former, then the special designation is meaningless. If it is the latter, there will be faults, because what can be enjoyed has been made un-enjoyable. It is said to be kept like other people. In general, although it is not necessary to abandon items for abandonment sins, it is necessary for the types of transgressions that are summarized by accumulation, such as in the case of money and savings, not letting others possess it but owning it yourself, and because there is nothing to abandon after eating it, it is necessary to hold it, as stated in the commentary. It is not necessary for others to control the release of the clenched fist. Regarding the question of whether there is a fault in asking about a cushion under the control of others, it is said to consider its production, both of which need to be examined. If the item to be abandoned is one's own, then whether it is offered to the Sangha, an individual, or others, whether it is certain to know or not, whether it can be delivered or not, it is separated from oneself. Determining it is placing it. That itself is separated from oneself. Examination is also, if you examine others, it is separated from yourself. Moreover, not only is the bowl not collected, but it is separated not only by offering, but also by separate examination, which is the meaning of the commentary. There are four sutras in common with traces. What is meant by one's own is that for this transgression, this item is needed as a limb. If you offer or examine separately, not only will you be separated from yourself, but the subsequent continuity will also be lost. For example, if you get clothes on the first day and offer or think about them separately on the fifth day, even if you get another piece of clothing that afternoon, there will be no trace of the previous days, because the continuity has been lost. Regarding the loss from oneself or others, from five days after getting the clothes, if you are upset, then ask where to calculate those ten days from, the answer is from when you regain your sanity. To this, some people think that madness is clear.
