Thinking, "I should steal like this," and experiencing physical changes due to the joy of certainty in obtaining, is also a sthulatyaya. When walking on the road, if one steals robes and other items by retreating backwards, etc., each step generates a different duskrita. Entering a place unseen by the owner of the object is a sthulatyaya, and when unseen, one commits a parajika. Regarding despised, borrowed, and entrusted items whose location is unknown to the owner, denying them with the intention to steal is a sthulatyaya, and deciding not to give them is a parajika. When stealing entrusted items whose location is known to the owner, generating a desire for them before the item is moved from its place is a sthulatyaya. If the desire arises at the moment the item is moved or after it has been moved, one immediately commits a parajika. When stealing through litigation, merely winning the litigation in the presence of the king results in a parajika. Winning in the presence of ministers, etc., is a sthulatyaya, and when the opponent initiates litigation, one commits a parajika. When stealing by gambling, not winning is a sthulatyaya, and winning results in a parajika. Cheating on numbers, erasing marks, etc., counting in another group previously and then counting again later, or denying that something counted in either the previous or later group was counted in a group that was not counted, and claiming ownership of something that cannot be owned, and taking something that another person says "Give it to me" without their permission, in these cases, one commits a duskrita. When one is inclined to obtain wealth through these means, it is a sthulatyaya, and obtaining it results in a parajika. Even if one does not directly commit the act of stealing, informing a thief about road conditions, conspiring for the purpose of stealing, guarding the road, etc., and wanting to possess a portion of the stolen goods, these are also similar to committing a parajika. Thus, among the previously mentioned limbs, if the basic limb is incomplete, treasures that have not been possessed, etc., and one's own property, and the property of relatives and the sangha, etc., with whom one's wealth is shared, and the property of non-humans, and property entrusted to others but not claimed by the trustee, and the property of the Buddha after his complete nirvana, and property suddenly possessed by executioners, etc.

Stealing valuable items from monasteries and cooked food, as well as stealing incomplete items from people, constitutes a gross offense. If other limbs are complete, even something as small as a sesame pod can increase the gross offense. Even if other limbs are complete, but if the motivation is impure, stealing for oneself and for someone whose property is not the same; exercising rights when one has no right; stealing with the thought that there is no owner when there is clearly an owner; deceiving others with secret mantras, etc., causing them to offer wealth; despising or borrowing the property of others, merely thinking of not returning it; and indulging in contempt, etc., without restraint, these also constitute a gross offense. Without the intention of possessing it, hiding the property of others in water, etc.; wasting property by burning, etc.; withering flowers and grains, etc., with secret mantras; and releasing wild animals, etc., that have been captured by others, these constitute a gross offense of wasting property, but if it is released out of compassion, there is no offense. Similarly, stealing merely for the purpose of offering to Buddha images, etc., also constitutes a minor offense. Releasing captured wild animals, etc., with meditative powers, there is no offense. Second, the offenses of the training precepts are: like masons and others, destroying the livelihood of others; being infatuated with objects that should not be infatuated with; engaging in activities such as sewing Dharma robes, not out of craftsmanship and merit, but out of the desire to receive rewards; picking up lost property of others and concealing it for a long time; not handing it over to the steward when the owner is unknown; if the steward suspects that the item belongs to a renunciate, not informing the Sangha; even if informed, if the owner does not appear, not placing it in a place where everyone can see it; taking medicine that is not allowed by the inner teachings; initially it was one's own property, but others suddenly claim ownership, taking possession without permission; property taken by thieves, even if one has not given up on it, not teaching the Dharma or giving rewards, but forcibly demanding it; taking clothes from an uninjured corpse; harming a corpse in order to take the property of the corpse; not preventing someone who does not want to renounce from being taken away by relatives; eating in a house without being invited; taking items carelessly discarded by others.
