One should firmly maintain the discipline of vows. The object is: for the sake of great Bodhi, that is, considering that the Buddha's teachings are fully matured in one's own mindstream. Therefore, accumulating merit is considered to mature one's own mindstream, while benefiting sentient beings is to mature others, and that is the difference. The characteristic or nature is: accumulating merit with body and speech, not mentioning mind because this is the occasion of accumulating merit's discipline, and also because discipline is only of body and speech, although other commentaries explain it this way, but in the extensive explanation, many merits of mind are explained, and in the commentary of the teacher Yönten Ö, mind is also explained, so, as it is said, mentioning body and speech can make mind also understood indirectly, so it is not said, which is very good. The difficult explanation of the twenty vows and the explanation of the Lamp for the Path are done according to the view that the text has mind. Thus, the discipline of accumulating merit done by each of the three doors separately, or two by two, or all three together exists. There are eight aspects to the extensive explanation, among which generating the three wisdoms is: the Bodhisattva relies on and abides in the discipline of vows, and without distraction, listens to the holy Dharma, thereby seeking the wisdom of hearing. From the accumulation of hearing, one contemplates with discernment. Then one engages in meditation, that is, meditating on calm abiding and insight. That also depends on the body being secluded from busyness and the mind being secluded from unwholesome thoughts, therefore one delights in solitude. In the difficult explanation of the twenty vows, it is said to delight in solitude. Among them, calm abiding is the training of samadhi, while the wisdom of hearing and thinking and insight are the training of wisdom, that is, two trainings are accomplished from discipline. Accumulating merit in a special field is: when seeing the lamas, not being arrogant, and happily saying "Have you come in peace?" speaking frankly or respectfully, prostrating with the body, standing up to offer a seat, rising from the seat, showing respect by standing up or quickly standing up, when approaching or appearing in sight, making prostrations or just joining palms, and respectfully serving as a servant, and lovingly attending to the sick. This is benefiting, and the three fields of the lama and suffering, the first is parents, the second is Khenpo and Acharya.

The second and third are the sick, these are the basis for the growth of merit for both ordained and unordained Bodhisattvas, so they are fields. To rejoice in qualities and those who possess qualities is: to give praise to those who speak the scriptures without error and praise the Three Jewels, and to praise those who possess qualities such as listening, and to rejoice from the depths of one's heart in the virtues of all sentient beings and express them in words. That is, to rejoice so that others know it is a place of merit, and to abandon one's own jealousy, and to obtain merit as if one had done it even though one has not, and in order to follow those good deeds, to rejoice as one rejoices in what one has done oneself. To cultivate patience is: to examine separately all the harm done by others, to see it as past karma, to generate compassion, not to be angry again, and not to retaliate. Dedication and aspiration are: in order not to waste what has been done, and to generate different merits, to dedicate all the virtues done and to be done by the three doors of body, speech, and mind to supreme enlightenment, and in order to accomplish immeasurable qualities, to recite at all times the ten aspirations spoken of in the Ten Bhumi Sutra, or to make the aspiration of the Good Conduct Prayer. Offering to the Three Jewels is: to make all kinds of offerings to the Three Jewels, namely material offerings and practice offerings, and vast offerings that are not inferior. Guarding mindfulness is: to constantly and continuously enter into all aspects of the six perfections with great diligence. The virtues that become the place of the path of accumulation are: while remembering in the mind and having mindfulness, to practice the objects of learning with body and speech, thereby completely guarding, and not guarding the sense doors, following after desirable and undesirable objects and generating attachment and aversion, thereby guarding the mind, guarding the sense doors, and neither overeating nor being too hungry, in order for the body to abide, eating moderately, and dividing the night into three parts, sleeping in the middle, reciting and practicing yoga in the first and last parts and during the day, not sleeping in the first and last parts of the night, but diligently practicing yoga, and.
