As stated earlier, such as "the initial arising of Bodhicitta," it is said that all Bodhisattvas of the three times learn in this way, not that some learn this and some learn that. Therefore, Bodhisattvas who properly and truly learn the path to Buddhahood are shown to have a single path of progression, thus eliminating doubts about the path. This is the method of learning ethics, and one should also understand the method of learning the remaining Paramitas and the Four Sangrahavastus, etc. If one learns from the depths of one's heart, then at that time, one is said to be without fault for not being able to learn other things to be learned. However, the burden of learning the remaining things to be learned must not be abandoned in any way. Thus, for the initial Bodhisattva, the most important thing is this chapter on ethics. If this treatise were fully quoted and explained, it would seem that there would be too many words. Therefore, only the essence is taken, referring to the two commentaries on the Bodhisattvabhumi, the two commentaries on the Ethics Chapter, and also the Sikshasamuccaya, the root and commentary of the Bodhicaryavatara, etc., many pure treatises with consistent themes, and also relying on the Sutras, the difficult points of taking, guarding, and correcting are extensively determined. The commentary said to be written by Samudra Megha seems to have the same name as the author of the extensive commentary on the Bodhisattvabhumi, Ocean Cloud, but is not that teacher. The Great Vehicle for attaining Buddhahood: Wherever one enters, one must be certain. The pillars of the Great Vehicle path are aspiration and practice. Having properly grasped them, as promised. Without learning the practice of the Bodhisattvas, there is a path to omniscience. The Buddhas and their sons, the wise ones, do not approve. Although some differences in permission and prohibition are spoken of in the Vajrayana and Paramitayana, those who are extremely confused and arrogant, those of little merit, have caused the common teachings of the Great Vehicle, the good path without defilement, to decline. Therefore, even if entering the Vajrayana, based on the meaning of the undefiled Sutras spoken by Maitreya, Nagarjuna, and Asanga, taking the Bodhicitta vows as the foundation, and learning the six Paramitas as the basis, obtain the supplement of the Vajrayana path. That is the supreme vehicle path without any deficiencies. Others besides that are just for making children happy.

Thus, the path traversed by all the Buddhas and their children, The means to purify the vows of a Bodhisattva, Based on faith, scriptures, and immaculate reasoning, Unstained by self-fabricated impurities that transcend, Just as the enlightened intent of the Buddhas, This explanation, clearly articulated in easy-to-understand words, Arises from the power of constant reverence, I perpetually prostrate to Manjushri. The profound path of the supreme vehicle, my intellect is like a child's, Therefore, if there are faults in words and meaning, Before the eyes of the noble and wise, I confess, I beseech the compassionate ones to correct these errors. Seeing that the lifeblood of the general teachings of the Buddha, and especially of the Great Vehicle, Is mostly declining, In order to establish the teachings, Whatever virtue is accumulated from such effort, May it transform all beings into the path, Without joy, and the essence of the correct path, Having fully seen, may I strive in practice. May I also, in all lifetimes, be held by Manjushri, The holy protector, and having properly realized the supreme vehicle, Holding the burden of liberating beings, May I expand the teachings of the Buddhas. This explanation on how to purify the aggregates of ethics after taking the Bodhisattva vows, called "Bodhi Path," was composed by the Shakya monk Lobsang Drakpa Pal, who has a slight inclination towards the conduct of a Bodhisattva, at the solitary place of Gyalwa in Jangra Dreng (北拉格仁), for the sake of those who have taken the vows of a Buddha-child and wish to learn the teachings. May there be auspiciousness! And the lotus garden of the adorned teachings, etc. A Commentary on the Ethics of a Bodhisattva: The Bodhi Path.
