Whether or not one becomes innocent with a pure intention should be examined with careful wisdom. Because this realm is solely the realm of the Buddha, it is extremely subtle and fraught with great danger. Sea Cloud, Jinasutra, and Mudra are the conduct of Bodhisattvas who have minds free from afflictions, have attained mastery, and have pure intentions. Therefore, it is not the realm of those with small roots of virtue, dull wisdom, attachment to their own side, and those who take the sutras literally. Only the Buddha has direct perception of this, so others should never do it, as they will completely grasp non-merit. This is what is said in the context of killing. The objects for which killing is permitted are: robbers, etc., who are determined to kill hundreds and thousands of Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Bodhisattvas for a small amount of wealth, and thus engage in actions of the five heinous crimes. The intention is: when seeing such a person, one thinks, 'If I kill this person, I will be reborn in hell, but it is not right for this evil being to commit the five heinous crimes and then go to hell.' One only cherishes compassion for the future, which is the ability to exchange oneself for others. At the time of killing, one's own mind should abide in a virtuous or neutral state, and one must know that it should not be mixed with afflictions, etc. Some explain this as referring to the mind of the person being killed, but this is not correct. 'With hesitation' means that one has not found another method besides that method, so it is a poor dharma. Separating from life in that way is not only without fault, but also increases merit greatly. The objects for which taking what is not given is permitted are three: The first is that most kings and ministers are cruel, have no compassion for sentient beings, and are solely engaged in harming others. If they remain in that position, they will increase much non-merit. The intention is: with a compassionate heart or the thought of benefiting others, to remove them from the throne and seize their kingdom. The second is robbers who steal many possessions of the Sangha and stupas, wanting to take them as their own and enjoy them. The intention is: thinking that it is not right for those people to harm and be unfavorable to those possessions for a long time, one retakes them and offers them to whichever Sangha and stupa they originally belonged to. The third is those who serve food or guard gardens, who misappropriate the possessions of the Sangha or stupa.

Taken by wisdom and done by oneself. The thought is: Just as mentioned earlier, taking those from them. Even taking what is not given like that is not sinful, and merit will increase greatly. The situation for allowing sexual misconduct is: If a Bodhisattva does not rely on desire, he will die, and he will hold a grudge against it, so he is tormented by non-celibacy, and the woman with a mind related to that Bodhisattva is pure. The later words are explained in the commentaries as abandoning sexual misconduct, but since it is a situation of allowing sexual misconduct, it is unreasonable. It is also said in the Compendium of Trainings: In a secluded place, whether married, pure, or protected by caste, religion, and signs, there will be no sin of sexual misconduct for desire, because it has been said that whether married or not, there is no sin of sexual misconduct. In this case, it is also said in the Compendium of Trainings: For those who truly practice celibacy, for the sake of benefit, they should be kept away and offered to like mothers and sisters. In this way, in most cases, one relies on the status of a householder, which is different from a monk, and if one sees greater benefits, one should offer the training, so it is the same as the meaning of the Bodhisattva vow. It is also said in the new commentary: Always engaging in sexual intercourse will lead to downfall and will lead to hell without interruption, and many who should be tamed will also lose faith in the Dharma, and worldly people will only stay in that state, so seeing that they follow, the Great Lord will not engage in sexual intercourse either. Similarly, it is the same for killing and so on, they are not the ones who do those things. The thought is: From all of this, if one relies on a tormented mind and increases sin, that is not good, thinking that if one relies on desire, one can grasp good as one wishes and abandon evil, and engaging in sexual intercourse with only a compassionate heart will not be sinful, and merit will also increase greatly. The situation for allowing lying is: Killing life, cutting off hands, feet, noses, ears, and gouging out eyes, etc., is aimed at many sentient beings with prohibited actions. The thought is: Joining in order to be rescued from those faults.
