It is only so. If the part from "if" onwards is also connected in the same way, saying lunch and afternoon twice, and afternoon and the first period of night twice, and the first period and the middle period of night twice, and the middle period and the last period twice. Attendant, thus, for the Bodhisattvas who have correctly entered the Mahayana, the precepts are remediable. For them, Bodhisattvas should not excessively generate the complete arising of regret, nor should they excessively dwell on it in their minds. Attendant, for the Hearer Vehicle practitioners, if faults occur again and again, then it should be known that the aggregate of precepts of the Hearer Vehicle practitioner has been damaged, severely damaged, and completely exhausted. What is the reason for that? Because the Hearer Vehicle practitioners, in order to abandon all afflictions, must act as if their head and clothes are on fire, thus, for the Hearer Vehicle practitioners, those who desire to completely transcend suffering with superior intention, the precepts are irremediable. As it is said, the downfall in "if a downfall occurs in the morning" is because it is a root downfall. How is it known that it is a root downfall? Because the precepts of the Mahayana and Hearer Vehicle are said to be the answer to whether they are remediable or irremediable, and if their meanings are compared, it is also so, the precepts of the Bodhisattva are remediable, and it is said that if a fault occurs to a Hearer Vehicle practitioner, it cannot be remedied again, therefore it can be known, because other than the root downfall, what can be remedied is also present in the Hearer Vehicle, so it is not a characteristic of the Bodhisattva. If that is unreasonable, if it is a root downfall, then it contradicts the statement that "only the aggregate of precepts is not completely exhausted", because the meaning of completely exhausting the precepts is that it is damaged. There is no fault, because in the translation quoted in the Compendium of Trainings, it appears that "the aggregate of precepts is infinite", this is good, its meaning is that the precepts in the continuum of the Bodhisattva, if they cannot be restored because a root downfall has occurred, then its end is limited to that extent, if it has an end, then it can also be restored, therefore it is said to be infinite. If that Sutra can show the time period, it is also unreasonable, because if the time period is desired, then it must be remedied by the antidote within that time period, the downfall occurring in the morning

If it is said that way, it is because it is considered that those two trees also have separate time periods, and it is necessary to explain whether or not the scriptures view it as shame and sin. The sutra says that it is inseparable from the aspiration mind. So, if the commentary on the "Lamp for the Path" says: "The six time periods are divided into eighteen segments. The morning time period has three segments. In the first segment and the middle segment, if a fault occurs in the last segment, forgetting the Bodhi mind, the Bodhisattva vows are broken. The other five segments should also be inferred in the same way." What does this mean? This is because before that quotation, it has already been said, "Abandon bad friends, have time period yoga," etc. This is to explain the characteristics of a scholar who has taken the Bodhisattva vows and entered the path. The so-called "having time period yoga" means that if a fault is committed in the first and second segments of each of the six time periods, it is necessary to have the yoga of remembering the Bodhi mind and restoring it until the last segment. If it is not like this, it shows that the Bodhisattva will fall from the final remedy. As the subsequent part of that quotation says: "The one who recovers well in the first segment is the superior person, the middle one is the second segment, and the one who recovers in the last segment is the inferior person." Moreover, the superior of the superior is the one who recovers in the first moment, the middle of the superior is the second moment, and the inferior of the superior is the one who recovers in the third moment, so it is also said that nine, six, and fifty-four, which is the way of remedy, not the time period that becomes a failure. So, even if a root downfall occurs, the precepts can be restored. Is this for the Bodhisattva vows or for the individual liberation of the Bodhisattva continuum? If it is like the first statement, then it is unreasonable to say the difference that "it can be restored if it is not separated from the aspiration mind," because if the aspiration is abandoned, the Bodhi mind arises again and the Bodhisattva vows are taken, it will arise. If it is like the second statement, for those who have the individual liberation vows, even if a failure occurs and the vows are taken again, they cannot be taken again like the previous vows, because many scriptures of the great and small vehicles say so, and the difference between being separated from or not being separated from the aspiration mind is also unreasonable. If it is said that way, this sutra is quoted by Master Shantideva as a knowledge basis for the power of the Bodhi mind to eliminate sins and downfalls, and the essence of the sutra.
