Because it is said in the treatises of mantra. Now, let's explain the ninth root downfall: To have doubts about the nature of pure dharmas is the ninth. That's how it is said. The object of this is: all dharmas are pure in nature, which is emptiness without self-nature, free from elaboration. From the "Garland of Instructions": To have doubts about all dharmas being pure without self-nature, etc. And Shantipa said: The so-called non-existent dharma is the Prajnaparamita, and it should never be slandered. After hearing it, those with small minds will abandon it. Those who abandon it and become helpless will go to Avici hell. That's why it is said. Although there are many different explanations for the pure nature, the former is better. In the "Vajra Heart Ornament", the establishment of names is similar to this treatise, but in the "Black Enemy", as in "The dharma of the village should not be abandoned", it also appeared in the commentary of the Black Tradition, but there is no clear explanation in it. In the Black Tradition ritual of Paljin, there is also the saying "The dharma of samsara should not be abandoned." However, Shantipa said, "The non-existent dharma should not be slandered." And in some of the Red Tradition rituals of Paljin, it is also said, "The dharma of essence should not be abandoned." Therefore, the meaning of "The dharma of the Bhagavan should not be abandoned" in the Red Tradition tantra should be understood according to Shantipa. In the "Garland of the Gathering", it says "To have doubts about the sacred dharma", and in the commentary on the "Hevajra Root Tantra" by Kalsang Drakpa, it says "To have doubts about the Mahayana", but the meaning should be understood as before. What kind of action will cause a downfall? It is to have doubts about it, that is, to abandon it without believing, because it is said in the Red and Black Tantras that it is directed against slander. In this way, not believing in profound emptiness and abandoning it is the ninth root downfall. Regarding this, the Black Tradition has said many things, such as explaining that for the straightforward meaning of not changing one's mind with sectarianism, it is necessary to show the definitive meaning, etc., and also said that it is to engage in false arguments to make others unhappy, but it is better to follow Shantipa's explanation. Now, let's explain the tenth root downfall: To always have love for the wicked is called the tenth. That's how it is said. The object of this is: For those sentient beings who slander the Three Jewels and the Guru, and destroy the Dharma, etc., the object of manifest action is the wicked.

Furthermore, in the "Purification of the Evil Destinies Tantra," it is said, "Those who slander the Three Jewels with malicious words, harm the Buddha's teachings, and diligently slander the gurus, the wise should sternly kill." etc. What actions lead to downfall? If one befriends them and cherishes them with body and speech, one will fall. Even when killing such individuals, one should generate great compassion. Therefore, merely cherishing them in one's heart does not constitute a downfall. The views of the two interpretations mentioned above are similar. This refers to the downfall of befriending them; if one does not kill them, it is not considered a root downfall. Then, how should we interpret the statement in the "Six-Faced Tantra": "The wise yogi does not kill sentient beings with a mind of benefit. For the malicious, one should act with counteracting methods. Either with objects, or with mantras, or with illusion wheels, or with samadhi, or with medicines. If one does not act in this way, one will surely break the vows."? This refers to those who can kill them and cause them to be reborn in pure Buddha-fields, and whose consciousness can re-enter the body, possessing vast clairvoyance to know past and future lives, and who have great compassion. These are things that should not be done. If one cannot stop them by other means, then in order to prevent them from enduring the long-term suffering of evil destinies, it is necessary to kill them. This shows that not only is there no fault in not killing, but if one does kill, it will generate great faults. In the commentary on the "Vinaya Origin," it says, "These actions can only be done by yogis, who can transfer the body to be reborn in the heavens or pure Buddha-fields, or who have the ability to fully enter consciousness into the body. However, if one tries to stop those who harm the Three Jewels but cannot, then at that time, one should pray to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, generate great compassion, and act as they have said." The specific vows regarding the number of killings, etc., should be learned in detail from the "Vimalaprabha." In the "Manjushri Root Tantra," it is also said, "One called 'Tsanaga' is the embodiment of the Lord of Death, Yama..."
