To avoid indecency, one should cover the mouth with the hand. Chag Los. If the Lama gives instructions, one should immediately reply, "Instructions given." This translation is still found in some places today, but the former is easier to understand. In the Vajra Heart Ornament Tantra, it also says: "Therefore, at the feet of the Lama, guard shame like a bride. Coughing, hiccuping, spitting, etc., cover the mouth with the hand, and speak very softly." It also says: "For whatever actions one does, or desires to hear, etc., in order to receive, do not open the palms, stand up from the seat, and in a visible place, do not turn the back." Thus it is said, and it is also said not to walk around with the back turned in the vicinity where the Lama can see. The second is: "Sit humbly in front, and the manner of clothing, etc., should be restrained, kneeling and joining the palms, with the desire to listen, etc., make three requests." Thus it is said, the disciple who wishes to listen to the Dharma should make three requests when requesting the Dharma. What kind of behavior should one have? In front of the Lama, abandoning arrogance, sit humbly, wearing clothes properly, etc., restrain oneself from indecent behavior, kneel on the ground, and make requests with joined palms. The word "etc." includes requesting empowerment and vows, etc., and listening is for the purpose of determining the definition of the Dharma. The third is: "In all acts of service, do not have pride in your heart. With shame, fear, and restraint, abide like a new bride. All acts of coquetry, etc., should be abandoned in front of the teacher. Other similar acts, examine them yourself and abandon them." Thus it is said, taking the previous examples, in all one's own actions of serving the Lama, do not mix pride in the heart, because generating pride towards a sacred object is the most serious fault mentioned in the Prajnaparamita, because the fault is very great. Therefore, one should abide like a new bride with reverence, knowing shame, fearing the Lama, and with very restrained behavior. All actions with the purpose of coquetry, etc., should be abandoned in front of the Lama who shows the way to oneself.

Furthermore, all actions similar to becoming arrogant and coquettish, and all inappropriate behaviors, should be judged by one's own wisdom, and all thoughts of "Is this not appropriate?" should be abandoned. Eighth, there are four situations where autonomy is not allowed: receiving permission to serve others; dedicating the gains from engaging in activities; not accepting the service of others in the presence of the guru; and the manner of behaving with extreme reverence in body. The first is: "Consecration, mandala, fire offering, etc., Gathering disciples and teaching, etc., If the guru resides in that place, Do not do it without permission." As it is said, consecration and mandala, that is, empowerment and performing fire offerings, and gathering disciples and teaching the Dharma, etc., if the guru resides in that place, then request permission from the guru, and it should be done if the guru allows it, but not done without permission. If there is no guru in that place, then there is no need to request permission. The second is: "Whatever is obtained from eye-opening, etc., All should be offered to the gurus, Having taken what was offered by that teacher, Others should do as they please." As it is said, eye-opening is another name for consecration, and whatever offerings are obtained after doing eye-opening and empowerment, etc., all should be offered to one's own guru. According to the translation of Chag Lotsawa, "That teacher takes what he desires from it," the guru takes whatever he wants from the offerings dedicated by the disciple, and the remainder is left for the disciple to enjoy as he pleases. The third is: "The guru's disciple is not a disciple, Nor should the disciple be in front of the guru, Service and standing up, etc., Worship and other actions should be stopped." As it is said, the guru's disciple should not be made one's own disciple, nor should one's own disciple teach the Dharma in front of the guru. Regarding the guru's disciple not being made one's own disciple, some panditas say that if doing so would cause them to serve oneself and reduce their service to the guru, then they should not be made a disciple, which is the saying of Ngok Shetsang Dorje. However, in the pure treatises, there is the word "also" in "nor should the disciple be in front of the guru," so the meaning is that the guru's disciple should not be a disciple in front of the guru. If one sees one's own disciple performing services such as covering clothes in front of the guru, and standing up from the seat and prostrating, etc., one should prevent them from doing so. The fourth is: The teacher
