If the guru strongly urges one to do things that are against the precepts or other inappropriate actions, one should not follow them, but one should not use this as an excuse to generate distrust or criticism, etc. For gurus who are not like this, for all the teachings that are in accordance with the Dharma, one should make every effort not to transgress them, striving with all diligence, because both the supreme and common accomplishments, the refuge of gods and humans in the higher realms, and all the happiness closely related to them, are obtained from the guru, and the guru's words themselves are the main gateway through which blessings enter the disciple, therefore one should not transgress these. The following verses are excerpted from the "Moon Secret Bindu." The faults of transgressing the guru's teachings are stated in the eighth chapter of the "Tent Tantra": At that time, if a disciple who has received the supreme empowerment transgresses the guru's teachings, they will suffer in this life and go to hell in the next life. Regarding how the two accomplishments are achieved from the guru, it is also stated in the fifteenth chapter of the "Tent Tantra": The teacher is the teacher of beings, praised by all the Buddhas, he is our father and mother, one should remember him in this way. Why is that? Because the Vajrasattva and Buddha spoken of by the Tathagatas, as well as the Vajra Dharma and splendor, and the accomplishment of the Horse King, are therefore not difficult. Eye medicine can make one's legs and feet swift, and swords and underground travel can also be accomplished. Pills and flying in the sky, invisibility and extracting essence can also be accomplished. Therefore, if one pleases the Vajra Holder, one can quickly obtain them. Therefore, having come before the teacher, prostrate to the Tathagatas. Thus it is said. Fourth, how to treat the guru's property and retinue: The guru's property is like life, and affection for it is also like the guru. The guru's retinue is like relatives, one should treat them equally and constantly remember them. Thus it is said. Just as one cherishes one's own life and protects it from harm, one should treat the guru's property in the same way. Not only should one respect the guru, but one should also respect the guru's beloved children and mudras, etc., and treat the guru's retinue like one treats relatives, with an equal mind, constantly remembering them.

To purify immediate conduct, there are three points: prohibiting unreasonable conduct, adhering to reasonable conduct, and demonstrating other methods of preventing unreasonable conduct. The first point is divided into two parts: what should be learned in the immediate vicinity of what is seen, and what should be learned in the immediate vicinity of what is heard. The first point is: sitting and lying on a mattress and going before (the guru), wearing a headdress and other ornaments, placing feet on the mat, and placing hands on the waist and rubbing should not be done. When the gurus stand up, one should not lie down or sit. Always for his affairs, one should be quick to rise and do them completely and perfectly. Throwing away spit and other things, as well as stretching legs on the mat, walking around and arguing, should not be done in front of the guru. Rubbing limbs and dancing, singing and playing musical instruments should not be done. This is shown by three and a quarter verses. Sitting on a mattress should not be done in front of the guru, thus connecting, merely sitting on a mat is not prohibited. When walking, one should not walk in front of the guru, that is, in front of him. In the *Diamond Heart Ornament Tantra* it says: Walking in front and stretching out the feet should not be done truthfully. Thus it is said. Wearing a headdress and other ornaments, that is, wrapping a turban, this should not be done in front of the guru. Likewise, in the fourteenth chapter of the *Diamond Heart Ornament*, it says: Wrapping a turban and weapons and sticks should not be done in front of the guru. Thus it is said. Placing feet on the mat, that is, when sitting on a seat, going onto the seat before the guru, and when the guru is on the ground, sitting on the seat oneself, these should not be done. As for the waist, placing hands on it and rubbing should not be done, in the Chag Lotsawa translation: placing hands on it, should not be done nearby. This translation is better, because preventing rubbing limbs will be shown below. Therefore, placing both hands on the waist, bending the elbows, should not be done in front of the guru. Gurus, etc., in the Chag translation: when the gurus are sitting and standing, one should not lie down or sit. Thus it appears, when the guru stands up, both lying down and sitting should not be done, and when sitting, one should not lie down. At any time, for the service of the guru, one should be quick to rise, that is, rise lightly, and be skilled in accomplishing those things, and should do them completely and perfectly. Throwing away spit, etc., and the collected snot and phlegm, etc., and stretching legs when sitting on the mat, and walking around and arguing
