Those who show off their strength should not do so in front of the lama. Massaging limbs, hands, etc., dancing, singing, and music should not be done in the presence of the lama, except during gatherings such as Tsogkhor. Secondly: Many combinations of conversations should not be done near where one is listening. It is said that many joking conversations should not be done near where the lama can hear them. Most of the part from "spit" to "should not be done nearby" is from the Explanatory Tantra Vajra Garland. The Vajra Essence Ornament Tantra also says: Drumming and vulgar words should not be done where one can hear them. Secondly, relying on reasonable conduct: Bowing and rising from the seat, and sitting with respect. On roads at night, crossing water, and with fear, one should go ahead after receiving instructions. It is said that rising and sitting should be done with respectful conduct, and bowing is also respectful conduct. When walking on roads at night, crossing water, and with fear, one should go ahead after receiving the instruction "go ahead" from the lama. This is an exception to "should not go ahead." That is from the Vajra Essence Ornament Tantra: At night and when crossing water, and when dwelling in steep valleys, in order to seek teachings and commands, going ahead is not a mistake. It is said. Thirdly, refuting inappropriate conduct, explaining others: In front of the teacher, an intelligent person should not twist the body, should not lean on pillars, etc., and should not count the joints of the fingers. It is said that in front of the teacher, an intelligent disciple should not twist the body against each other, should not lean on pillars and walls, etc., and should not count the joints of the fingers. The Essence Ornament says: Twisting the joints and stretching the legs, etc., means not to pull and twist the joints. Some texts say: Do not straighten the joints of the fingers, which seems correct. Sixth, explaining the difference between serving and respecting with body and speech, there are two: The difference in serving and respecting with the body is: Washing the feet and washing the body, applying perfume and massaging, etc., should be done first with the hands. Similarly, at the end also

Thus it is said, for the daily cleaning of the Guru's feet, washing the entire body with water, wiping the body with a cloth, performing body massage, etc., one should first prostrate, that is, prostrate first, and similarly, after completing these actions, one should also prostrate. After that, one can freely engage in one's own affairs. The characteristic of verbal reverence is: if it is necessary to mention his name, the name should be followed by "Your Presence." In order to make others respectful, special words should be spoken. For example, if the Guru's name is Rinchen Dorje, one should say something like "The Most Venerable Guru Rinchen Dorje Your Presence." This can guide others to also develop respect for the Guru. Chag Lotsawa said: "Do not mention his name briefly, the name should be followed by 'Your Presence,' in order to make others respectful, special names should be spoken." This is how it is translated, but I don't think it is translated very well. Seventh, abandoning arrogance has three aspects: abandoning arrogance when listening to instructions, abandoning arrogance when listening to Dharma, etc., and abandoning arrogance in general conduct. The first is: say to the Guru, "Please give me instructions." And say, "I will do as you instruct." With palms together and without distraction, listen to the Guru's instructions. For hiccups and spitting, etc., cover your mouth with your hand. After the matter is completed, report with gentle words. Thus it is said, first say to the Guru, "What should I do, please give me instructions." When the Guru instructs, "Do this and this," listen with your body with palms together and your mind without distraction, and after listening completely, say, "I will do as you instruct." Then, after completing the task he has said, report with very gentle words, saying, "I have done it like this." Let him know. When listening to instructions and at other times, as well as when spitting, hiccuping, etc., and at other times including yawning, etc.
