Rectify! It is crucial to flee from afflictions as if seeing a poisonous snake. There are two faults of agitation: agitation caused by place and by circumstances. Agitation caused by place is: meditating in a high and upright position, intelligence becomes clear, but awareness does not remain, and discursive thoughts become agitated and scattered. If whatever is scattered is left to its own devices, it will be controlled by afflictions, so restrain it with awareness and focus on it. If that does not subdue it, then engage in the perspective or view of the Hearers. Sometimes, let awareness focus on the cushion. At night, let the mind enter into the black bindu inside the root chakra of the sole of the foot, which is like a ball, and lie down. When discursive thoughts suddenly arise, seize their face and say "Phaṭ (藏文:ཕཊ,梵文天城体:फट,梵文罗马拟音:phaṭ,汉语字面意思:Cut)!", hold your breath. Afterwards, slowly release and let go. Or, chase after the thought until it cannot be found, and let go in that state of not finding it, which will eliminate the thought. The second is agitation caused by circumstances: whatever external circumstance is taken up by thought, the mind becomes agitated and scattered towards the side of afflictions. Abandon the thought that there is nothing that needs to be done, and practice loving-kindness, compassion, renunciation, skillful means, wisdom, and devotion. Therefore, in the stage of view, make an effort to generate the path. The third point is the fault of dullness, which has two types: dullness caused by not understanding and dullness caused by circumstances. The first, dullness caused by not understanding, is: not knowing how to cut off meditation sessions, no matter how much one meditates, it is ineffective. One develops wrong views towards the instructions and the guru. One cannot distinguish between experience, realization, and understanding, and it becomes foolish meditation. For this, pray to the guru, generate certainty in the instructions, cut off meditation sessions and increase the number of sessions. Meditate alone, without mixing with activities. When it is clear, cut off distractions and meditate. This will eliminate dullness and cause practice to progress further and further. The second, dullness caused by circumstances, is: being dulled by external circumstances, the appearances of the five poisons and the six consciousnesses, the mind is distracted and cannot be grasped by mindfulness. For this, immediately apply the antidote and cut off the clinging to appearances, and know them to be like illusions. If you want to cut off these with the action vajra, it is said, "Strike the pig's nose with a hammer." Also, the Lord of Secrets asked the Action Vajra, "Are secret mantra practitioners not taking afflictions onto the path?" The Lord of Secrets replied, "Taking afflictions onto the path, what is that? It is like sustaining life with poison!"

There is nothing to do. A person who can transform afflictions into the path without abandoning them is rarer than the udumbara flower. For those with superior faculties, afflictions may appear as companions, but ultimately they become poison, so it is crucial to abandon them. To what extent must one initially abandon them to merge into emptiness, so that all afflictions and the qualities of desire appear like illusions, and no attachment arises? Even if they arise, there is no need to stop them; there is no harm. Even if they don't arise, there is no thought of pursuing them; there is no expectation. That is the standard for transforming afflictions into the path. Until clinging is reversed, carrying afflictions onto the path is like a bee sticking to nectar. Karma Vajra and Mati Bhadra Shri said: Determine the boundaries of the stages of the path in this way. The third meaning concerns the errors in conduct, which are twofold: errors of conduct that are untimely and errors of conduct in general. First, untimely errors are: conduct like that of a bee, preceded by listening, contemplation, and meditation, which is the conduct of a beginner, but if practiced during retreat, it is wrong. Conduct like that of a deer is conduct during practice, but if practiced during retreat, it will cause samadhi to be influenced by other factors, so it is wrong. Conduct like that of a mute is conduct that strikes the key point during practice, but if practiced during the time of the bee, it is wrong because the meaning of the words is not understood. Conduct like a bird entering its nest is conduct during the time when self-experience arises, but it will become an obstacle to samadhi and is wrong because there is no warmth. Conduct like that of a madman is conduct during the time of relying on experience, but if practiced when a slight feeling of experience arises, it is wrong because the end of the meaning cannot be found. Conduct like that of a lion is conduct used when the view has merged into emptiness, but if practiced during the time of practice, it is wrong. Because it has not transformed into that state and is mistaken by other appearances, it is wrong. Conduct like that of a dog or pig is conduct used during the time of empowerment, but if practiced at an inappropriate time, it will bring the punishment of the dakinis, so it is wrong. If conduct is practiced without error, self-appearance will arise as dharmata, able to transform the unfaithful appearances of others, able to conceal secrets, able to accomplish any magical power, able to control appearances and arising. If the above conduct is mistaken, then the conduct...
