I, in the temporary and ultimate sense, because the fruits of these arise, whatever afflictions arise, in an instant, seize them with mindfulness and gently release awareness. Cultivate loving-kindness and compassion for all sentient beings born from afflictions. Pray for blessings to transform afflictions into the path. Especially, pray to the lama from the depths of your heart. Purify the seeds of afflictions with mantras, visualize them as deities, and recite their heart mantras. Afterwards, relax in the state of view and extensively dedicate merit and make aspirations. If you transform them into the path in this way, you will attain the fruits of these qualities in the temporary and ultimate sense. If you do not transform them into the path in this way, you will fall into the swamp of afflictions, and the view will not transform into vastness, which is a great root of straying. Karma Vajra and Mati Bhadra Shri, if you wish not to stray, rely on the antidote to whatever afflictions arise and transform them into the path. The fifth conforming straying is that all individuals who have a temporary view also completely stray into the view of their own sectarian doctrine, thereby distinguishing between scriptural authority and reliance, self and other, high and low, partiality, good and bad, and measuring the Buddha's great, boundless view with their own narrow personal standards and wisdom, which is the root of straying. Karma Vajra and Mati Bhadra Shri, if you wish not to stray, understand that the view is vast, boundless emptiness. Secondly, regarding the strayings of meditation, there are four: straying from the essence of meditation, straying from the place, straying from companions, straying from faults, and straying from afflictions. First, straying from the essence of meditation is: although the lama nakedly reveals the three—essence, nature, and compassion—the disciple does not understand, does not comprehend the three—essence, nature, and compassion—and strays because they do not realize the inseparability of clarity and emptiness. That is because, practicing according to the lama's instructions, they become attached to a slight comfort of body and mind and stray into being a person of the desire realm. If the mind clings to not conceptualizing anything at all, they stray into being a god of the Pure Abodes. If they cling to clarity and non-conceptualization, they stray into being a god of the form realm. If they cling to bliss and do not conceptualize, they stray into being a god of the desire realm. If they cling to emptiness and do not conceptualize, they stray into being a god of the formless realm. These are straying into the three realms. If the objects of the sense faculties continuously cease, it is the sphere of infinite space.
