The thought of thinking oneself capable will not allow the mind to focus on the Dharma. Excessive adherence to sectarianism will lead away from the path of the all-knowing. Clinging to appearances will prevent liberation. The result of straying is: being attached to the external appearance of luminosity will lead to rebirth in the form realm to enjoy. Not understanding the clarity and emptiness of inner awareness will cause the mind to revolve in one direction, with no opportunity for liberation. Vajra of Action. There are many who say they have realized luminosity, but few who are proficient in the union of clarity and emptiness. Vajra of Action. There are also four ways to stray in compassion. The way to stray is: the self-radiance of awareness, which is clarity and emptiness, does not arise, but the thoughts of the nine appearances arise. However they arise, they do not go beyond the emptiness of awareness. But people do not understand this, so they stray into the emptiness of awareness. The signs of straying are: body, speech, and mind are used only for the affairs of this life. The faults of straying are: people's thoughts do not arise as the Dharmakaya, and the mind is bound by the net of arising thoughts, reducing virtuous deeds. The habits of negative tendencies dominate, pursuing only this life. Bound by the shackles of dualistic clinging, doubt, hope, and fear, one binds oneself. The result of straying is: not understanding the ways of straying in thoughts, one clings to habits. Not understanding the faults of cause and effect, one wastes one's life on the path of distraction. After death, one will fall into the three realms. Vajra of Action. There are many who say there are no thoughts, but few who understand the key point of appearance being liberation. Vajra of Action asked: If these three ways of straying are not cut off, it is meaningless, how can these three ways of straying be cut off? The Secret Lord replied: Vajra of Action. The essence of awareness is emptiness, not made by anyone, without cause, without conditions, existing from the very beginning. Do not make any modifications to it, let it remain as it is, without straying, that is the accomplishment in the pure realm of reality. Similarly, the self-luminous nature Is naturally accomplished from the beginning, inseparable from emptiness. Its power is unceasing compassion. Whatever arises is not self-accomplished, so understand that these three are the great union, accomplished inseparably. Vajra of Action, I asked again: What are the ways of straying in view, meditation, and action? The Secret Lord replied: Vajra of Action.

Listen again, Vajra! Firstly, there are five deviations in view: deviation of the view itself, deviation of the place, deviation of the companions, deviation of the afflictions, and deviation of attachment. First, the deviation of the view itself is: while general Dharma views emptiness as being free from extremes, the yogis of this secret mantra tradition consider manifestation to be nakedly apparent. If one realizes the ultimate truth, there is no difference between these two. If one does not realize it, the general view remains merely in intellectual speculation and does not bring the meaning into one's own experience, which is a mistaken view. Not trusting the view of manifestation, one clings to intellectual speculation and says that everything is without support, without action, and free from extremes, thus engaging in confused behavior with regard to virtue and vice. They say there is no good or bad in actions, that doing good brings no benefit, and doing evil brings no harm, that everything is equal and empty, and thus they remain in ordinariness. These are called the views of black dissipation, which are the root of all deviations in view. Mati Bhadra Shri says that one must practice the view of self-luminous non-duality of manifestation and emptiness, combining profound cause and effect. The deviation of the place is: generally, a person who has realized the temporary view must go to a solitary and pure place, such as a mountain retreat, in order to transform the ultimate view into space. Even if one has the temporary view, one must go to a mountain retreat to cultivate it. A bad place will cause the view to deviate. Mati Bhadra Shri says that one must cultivate the temporary view in a mountain retreat. The deviation of companions is: a person who has the temporary view must associate with companions who are in accordance with the Dharma and do not increase afflictions. If one associates with bad friends, it is impossible not to be contaminated by their bad behavior. They will lead you astray in this life and not allow you to cultivate the view. Increasing afflictions is the root of deviation. Karma Vajra and Mati Bhadra Shri said: If you do not want to deviate, cut off contact with unhelpful friends and live alone. Fourth, the deviation of afflictions is: a person who has the temporary view does not make subduing afflictions the path of practice. Whatever external circumstances may arise, they will arouse afflictions. Even a moment of affliction will create karma, and if this continues for a long time, one will engage in negative actions. The appearances of the six senses are each stained by the five poisons, thus creating negative karma.
