He was very pleased with that demeanor. At that time, he requested Gonpa to teach the Abhidharmakosha. I said that I could teach well, but because no one came to request the Dharma, the caretaking could only be perfunctory. Also, my health is not good, and I have to teach the Abhisamayalankara, so I cannot teach it for the time being. My disciple Redawa is very intelligent and proficient in the Abhidharmakosha, so it would be good for you to listen to him. If you don't want to listen, it would be good to ask him for guidance, he kept saying that. Moreover, his disciple had been taking care of him before, so he also introduced him. The venerable Redawa came to Tsechen from Sakya (present-day Sakya County, Tibet) that summer, and listened to him giving guidance based on the self-commentary of the Abhidharmakosha. He did not rely solely on the words of the scripture, but rather organized the meaning of the entire treatise well, and was able to thoroughly give important understanding, so he developed great faith. He understood the meaning of the words without any omissions in just one hearing of everything he said, and he asked about the difficult points well. The venerable one also liked him very much, saying, "I must prepare carefully to give you guidance." Moreover, from countless eons ago, when the degenerate age came, he vowed to protect all the holy Dharma of the Buddhas well, and to raise the victory banner of not allowing the Dharma to decline. In previous lives, he also had the fragrance of completely pure vows of the unsurpassed vehicle many times. By the law of dependent arising, the relationship between these two wise swan teachers, connected like beads by the long lineage of the holy Dharma White Lotus, has never been interrupted, and from the beginning, the teacher and disciple were very close. Therefore, the venerable master Redawa, known as Kumaramati, whose reputation as the most white in the three realms is widely spread. From the time when he was young, because the power of good deeds was fully matured, even as a child, he was attached to the discriminating thoughts that indulge in the game of the eight worldly concerns like bees.

The radiant sunlight sets in the west, the darkness of ego-grasping, where flocks of birds of attachment and aversion fly, dissipates. The wisdom of the five-faced Manjushri, who protects the snowy mountain valleys of the Buddha's teachings, is fully accomplished. He views the three realms as a Gandharva city and acts with the illusory manifestations of a prince. Having renounced the world in his youth, he thoroughly studied all the scriptures of the Buddha's teachings. Apart from merely listening to empowerments and transmissions, without relying on the words of other contemporary spiritual mentors, he thoroughly examines the sutras, tantras, and their commentaries once or twice. He then completely comprehends the meaning of the root texts and commentaries of those teachings, integrating them perfectly. Without mixing the tenets of different schools, he fully understands them in his heart, thoroughly deducing them through the path of reason, and teaches others without any hindrance. In particular, when all the rational paths of Madhyamaka and Pramana had completely disappeared, and even their names were no longer known, he, through his own power, opened up the rational path of Madhyamaka and Pramana, becoming a great chariot that placed the crown of teachings on the heads of all the scholars of the north. This holy being possesses the qualities of realization: he has an extraordinary discipline, free from all stains of misconduct, and as an elder who upholds the Vinaya, he stands out like Mount Meru amidst a range of golden mountains. He continuously cherishes in his heart the unfeigned Bodhicitta of valuing others over himself, regarding all beings as if they were his only child. If he sees benefit for others, he views even the fires of hell as a lotus garden and enters without hesitation. For his own sake, he regards even the wealth of a completely pure Buddha-field as a joyful feast in a dream, without any attachment. This is an extraordinary princely courage that even ordinary Bodhisattvas find difficult to emulate. Having attained extremely stable samadhi in the generation and completion stages of glorious Guhyasamaja, Chakrasamvara, and others, he is unmatched in the accumulation of common and uncommon qualities of realization. He is a special protector who never deviates from the vows he made before the Buddha.
