Because you have no slightest stain of error in explaining the meaning of the scriptures as explained by the great teachers, you are like a second Buddha among all those who hold the banner of the imperishable precious Dharma. However, this statement is not exaggerated with false words or poetic language, but is fully proven by us through unerring measure. How does this manifest? Just as the treatises of those great pioneers who were prophesied by the Buddha, no matter how much the wise ones of reason examine them, they cannot find even a trace of flaws such as contradictions between earlier and later assertions. Likewise, this great self-nature, having composed so many treatises explaining the meaning of the Sutras and Tantras, for all of these treatises, both adding one's own views by citing "This is the teaching of our virtuous friend" as a reason, and abandoning the mind that is solely intent on finding fault, intoxicated by the venom of jealousy, and slandering, both of these practices are abandoned, and no matter how carefully one examines with the wisdom that comes from the path of immaculate reason, one cannot point out: 'The Sutras and Tantras, upper and lower, Mahayana and Hinayana, various schools, etc., whatever it may be, are contrary to that school's treatises and are harmed by scripture and reason,' or 'Even based on that school, it is affected by such a fault of self-contradiction.' This has been proven in an obvious way, and this is his correct reason. Therefore, this statement is that even those great predecessors who were famous as outstanding scholars and adorned with the banner of fame, when examining their respective treatises, would find that even based on that school, the fault of self-contradiction would occur not just once. In contrast, I believe that a virtuous friend who could bear comparison with the wisdom and knowledge of this great self-nature has never appeared in this snowy land before, and this is proven by me through credible measure. Nevertheless, the more one hears, the more one puts those meanings into practice, and since practice is made the core, one should learn.

This, in terms of the qualities of realization of the three (jewels), is unparalleled, and this is an even more immeasurable accumulation of qualities. Thus, this venerable precious one established from the very beginning a great and wonderful tradition of the precious teachings of the Buddha Bhagavan, completely pure in every way, in this land of snows (referring to Tibet), and made it extremely prosperous. That is to say, in the past, the way in which renunciates in Tibet practiced and engaged in activities was as follows: If someone entered the ranks of recitation, memorizing the words of great treatises, receiving transmissions from the teacher, contemplating their meaning in their mind, thoroughly determining them through debate and examination, and diligently engaging in hearing and thinking through explanation, debate, and writing, then at that time, intoxicating drinks, untimely food, various kinds of unrestrained amusements, and even things like songs, dances, and performances that depend on the behavior of virtuous householders, even those things that would be considered shameful to engage in, would all be enjoyed and practiced, thinking that this was to nourish the body that was diligently engaged in hearing and thinking, and to refresh the mind, so there was no fault. This kind of talk was spread like the wind from those who claimed to be great spiritual friends to even newly ordained novices. Similarly, when diligently engaging in hearing and thinking, even engaging in fighting, arguing, warfare, and military activities, no one would criticize, saying: This is not something to be done, it is not Dharma, it will damage the image of a renunciate. Otherwise, as soon as one enters the ranks of recitation and hearing and thinking, most people would naturally and without hesitation engage in those things that should not be done, and no one would feel ashamed. Apart from that, if, during the time of hearing and thinking, one sees someone striving to learn and practice aspects that guide to the ultimate path of the Victorious One's scriptures, the generation and completion stages of the Vajrayana, and the rituals of mandalas, etc., all the teachers, friends, and those who are close and have loving hearts would say: This is not the time to do these things, it is necessary to...
