When asked if the vipassanā he was showing was the essence of vipassanā, he replied that it was definitely not. Then, due to the prophecy of the yidam, he went to Sakya. He listened to the teachings on Madhyamaka and Vinaya from Jetsun Redawa. Then he went south, and while staying at Rong Choslung, he also listened once to the self-commentary on this Jetsun Rinpoche. In short, Jetsun Manjushri acted as his spiritual friend, and he promised to recite a verse of Dharma without fail every time he woke up at dawn. He personally instructed him in all aspects of how to cultivate the aims and aspects of practice such as renunciation, bodhicitta, and views, and showed the antidote to whichever affliction was most prominent in his mind. He did not allow him to engage in or cease all mundane three-door activities at will, except as directed by the yidam. His dedication to practice was so incredible that it was difficult for others to imagine. When he passed away and was cremated, the flames and smoke continuously appeared in the shapes of swords and blue lotuses, like those painted by a skilled artist, and then gradually disappeared into the sky, which was evident to all who were gathered. They say that countless relics, clear as crystal and saffron-colored, appeared and turned into proliferating relics. Some of them were many small relics proliferating from one another, forming a six-spoked wheel with a center and halo, which was very beautiful and wondrous. Like that, the lama, eminent with the accumulation of qualities, while dwelling in joy together with the Madhyamaka master, he also listened to many Dharma teachings from Jetsun Manjushri. He prayed intensely, regarding the lama and yidam as inseparable, and practiced the recitation and sadhana of the yidam with great diligence. In particular, this Jetsun Rinpoche, due to the power of his lineage, which had been well-trained from beginningless time, being fully ripened, no matter how much he listened, contemplated, and meditated on the scriptures and their commentaries, if he thought that it would lead to wealth, respect, fame, retinue, prosperity in this life, and a sense of superiority over others,

Without mixing even a trace of motivations such as "Could it not be so?", his mind was involuntarily seized by the sole aim of accomplishing omniscience. Therefore, he had no thought for whether the words were well-formed, or whether the content surpassed the explanations of other wise men, or whether establishing his own system in the midst of many assemblies would make it impossible for others to refute, or whether he was merely satisfied with refuting the views of others by various means, or whether he was merely devoted to that. Therefore, he had no thought of wanting to be victorious himself and subdue others, nor did he have any arrogance of thinking himself wise in order to make himself known to others, and for that purpose, to teach, debate, or write. From the beginning, when he was mainly devoted to listening and thinking, until now, at any time, he has acted in this way. This is something that no one who is impartial has ever spoken of fairly even once, and for anyone who has even a slight interest in the Dharma, whoever thinks about it, if they think with an impartial mind, will involuntarily generate even more faith. This is the amazing biography of a holy person. Therefore, when determining the meaning of the scriptures and their commentaries, he is solely focused on how to find all the paths, both higher and lower, that lead to liberation and omniscience, just as the Buddha intended and as the great chariot traditions do, and he contemplates this. Moreover, because he is a person of sharp faculties and of the highest lineage who follows the Dharma, he does not by nature possess the state of those who merely rely on the words of others to discriminate, or who merely take the scriptures as refuge. He thinks to himself: By relying on the reasoning explained by the great chariot founders who were praised by the Buddha as the best of scripture commentators, and by properly distinguishing the definitive and provisional meanings of the Buddha's scriptures, to obtain the true meaning of the scriptures in such a way that even if it is analyzed with extremely subtle intelligence, it will not change its boundaries. With a mind like that of a thirsty person seeking to drink, he is solely devoted to seeking the meaning of the scriptures in this way.
