Therefore, the act of seeking the nature of mind is widely known in the teachings of the Kagyu tradition. In this way, whether or not one has heard about it beforehand, the nature of mind appears in the continuum. The initial certainty experience, like a rough understanding of emptiness, transcends this understanding, and definite wisdom arises, cutting off the root of the three: abiding, moving, and knowing. But in reality, counting arising and ceasing is only a preliminary stage of childish behavior. Like this, even if one becomes very familiar with counting arising and ceasing, one still considers oneself a great practitioner without being liberated from the nature of mind that transcends consciousness. And, thinking, "The great Madhyamaka view is our view, and everything else is false," these two types of people who consider speculation as Dharma, although they differ in fame, the size of their wisdom, and discernment, are similar in the way their minds wander. The former loses auspiciousness, and the latter loses the path. Even if one eventually becomes very patient, one ultimately cannot go beyond the preliminary practical application. In the chapter on Samadhi, it says: Even if samadhi is very stable, if one clings to it, it is called a preliminary act of a child, and it will not change the state of Nirvana. Some people think that discernment is knowable because it can be an object for observing truth. Although they do not want to give up the habit of looking outward, the Diamond Sutra says, "The so-called Dharma-nature is not Dharma-nature, because it cannot be distinguished." And so on, repeatedly stating reasons, and earnestly urging a true and thorough understanding of the originally pure view of Dzogchen, and eliminating these doubts, but this urging has not been violated, so this discrimination of nominal ultimate truth is written. Regarding the remaining meaning, some say: Other-emptiness, Madhyamaka, and Cittamātra are the same, and Dzogchen is similar to this. The reason for the emergence of this nonsense is: Those of the Other-emptiness school consider the Five Treatises of Maitreya to be their own school's Madhyamaka, thus confusing them with the Cittamātra school. Kunkhyen Gorampa said that the reason why these Geshes do not understand is also here, because those of the Other-emptiness school think that the views of the Five Treatises of Maitreya are their own school's Madhyamaka, merely hearing this statement. In their respective schools, there are chapters on false aspects of Cittamātra in the Pramāṇavārttika, and the meaning of the Five Treatises of Maitreya.

It seems there is a sectarian area that considers everything to be only mind. They just changed the name to "Other-Emptiness" (gzhan stong), but think it's the same as Mind-Only, completely misunderstanding the huge difference between Other-Emptiness and Mind-Only. Do those characteristics also exist in our old Mind-Only view? Is it different from before, or is it just an inflated head? This kind of sectarian position that doesn't grasp the root, just looking outward, contradicts the essence of Dharma, the ultimate truth, and only follows the attachment of conceptual thoughts, the change of name is just a verbal view. In general, the Alaya consciousness that is not obscured and not predicted, follows the five omnipresent ones, and until it is destroyed by the Vajra-like Samadhi, the obscurations of knowledge and habitual tendencies will not disappear, so one must strive to accumulate merit and wisdom. In such efforts, the Mantra path, with its profound methods, practices through the generation stage and completion stage, while those on the accumulation path mainly focus on the precepts of preventing evil deeds, so the possibility of making mistakes is smaller. Now, the precious teachings of the Buddha are also at the end of the practice period, and in the near future, merely holding superficial signs will become bad. It seems that there are no disciples who have truly seen reality and have not generated realization, so if one can not violate the key points of the seven classes of individual liberation, and the asceticism of Shamatha-Vipassana practice, and take this as the foundation of merit, why expect good visions? If the Mahayana Sangha also needs to rely on signs and rituals, then the Yoga Lord Virupa, Tilopa, Naropa, etc., those accomplished ones who abandoned the asceticism of monks, would also become sinners. All the monks who gathered because of the faith in sandalwood incense, all those who wear decorations and wear white clothes, those people would also become sinners, because their nature is not good. The essence of Mahayana precepts lies in what to take and what to abandon. Also received the empowerments and transmissions represented by the Phurba lineage and the Longchen Nyingthig, as well as the rough transmissions of texts such as the Commentary on the Chariot and the Seven Treasures. In those days, very generous offerings were also received, and during the two months of residence, every day there were copper coins from Nepal, as well as the presentation of khatas, and the making of cushions and careful hospitality.
