The young man in robes appears very upright. Here, it is difficult to truly know the tenets of the sect that one follows. Merely grasping at superficial things and proclaiming the faults of others with hatred and prejudice is quite beautiful. However, for those who are of noble birth, handsome, and learned, if they lack wisdom and discipline, they are not worthy of respect. Therefore, whoever possesses these two qualities, even if they lack other qualities, is worthy of offering. It is said that these words were spoken in reference to the situation in the Ganges River region of India. If one follows the sect of Atiśa, then even the vows of individual liberation should be elevated with bodhicitta. One should integrate this combination into one's own mindstream. In the three hundred verses on monastic conduct, it says: Whoever kills, steals the wealth of others, engages in impure conduct, lies, drinks adulterated alcohol, dances, wears garlands, uses large beds and high seats, and abstains from eating after noon and from gold and silver, discipline is what conquers the afflictions. Regarding these points, if one can properly abide by the teachings that are thoroughly explained in the extensive commentaries on the Vinaya and in the extensive treatises of the Topics, then I will think that in Tibet, the Buddhist teachings will be able to abide, and thus great faith will arise. Although we entered the Dharma from a young age, we were not restrained. As the Three Hundred Verses says: Whatever is not permitted and not forbidden, one should examine carefully and then practice in accordance with the Buddha's words. Like this, after the era has been blessed, for those things that need to be eaten repeatedly, from liking places with unpleasant sounds, when touching and possessing jewels, they think that it is permitted for the purpose of offering to Kadampa stupas and saving sentient beings. Like this, those who waver between two extremes and consider themselves to be in accordance with the Dharma and in accordance with the precepts, even so, it is very helpful for not incurring downfalls, but it is merely a facade. In the Jataka Sutra, it says: Monks, where is enlightenment in touching the head? Where is enlightenment in wearing yellow clothes? Where is enlightenment in washing with water? Where is enlightenment in eating after noon? Therefore, when the monks became doubtful, the Buddha further taught: One must cut the hair of conceptual thoughts with the sharp razor of wisdom.

May the garment of discipline protect from the heat of afflictions. May the water of wisdom wash away the stain of ignorance. May the food of meditation eliminate the craving for desire, as it is said. Thus, it is also that many habitual tendencies, transformed by the power of past aspirations, awaken. Since there are many refutations and affirmations regarding this view, according to the intention and reasoning of some virtuous friends, although many reasons are seen for this essentialist doctrine falling into the extremes of permanence and annihilation, from the experience of meditation, the faults of those who speak in that way are also thoroughly understood. The inner experience has become an unspeakable, great state beyond thought, untouched by any verbal commitment. Therefore, Master Aryadeva said: It is easy to fall from discipline, but it is not so from view. Therefore, be certain that there is no fault even in the fruitless sky, having been liberated from the error of view. In that way, the false foundation of having to act with pretense and hypocritical acceptance and rejection, using analogies such as causality being unestablished, prophecies being unclear, sounds being unpleasant, and not killing, will collapse on its own. If one thinks that doing this will result in that, then the great hope of the old worldly gods, full of speculation, or the fear that the precious Three Jewels will be displeased by doing great non-dharmic deeds that contradict the ultimate meaning of both sutra and tantra, apart from this single fear, even if the world turns upside down, most of the doubts and discriminations that have become the heart of the matter, even if they are enlightened in the equality of samsara and nirvana, in a situation where one should speak, the Buddha said: That which accords with the heart and is true, for those who speak falsely, words like honey and flowers are like impure things. Among the three abilities of speech, abandon the worst. Although it is certain that one should never speak of this mixture of vulgarity and roughness, even so, Shantideva said: Associating with children is like being with children, praising oneself and denigrating others, and delighting in worldly talk, etc., non-virtue will certainly arise. As it is said, some are hatred, some are desire, and most are under the control of ignorance, whatever untamed conduct there is, in the Vinaya it is said: Whoever does not become a vessel for repeatedly receiving qualities, even if they shave their hair and beard,
