As soon as he arrived in Drigung, being advanced in years and over seventy, he seemed to be suffering from the unsuitability of the local environment, as if the karmic obscurations of beings were manifesting. Showing signs of maturity, his body was extremely unwell, and he was close to passing away in about a week. At that time, Druptse Chonyipa, who was present, came to offer a farewell gift. Coincidentally, the special medicine he offered temporarily alleviated the illness. This was similar to the past when Shakyamuni Buddha extended his life by three months after accepting the food offered by Anathapindika. Moreover, he found this medicinal herb effortlessly in his own Yama Lung (place name), so it was understood that this was a manifestation of your compassion, Master. Therefore, the Master said that this trip to Gamo (place name) was due to the compassion of Padmasambhava. Afterwards, he was quickly able to reside peacefully in the monastery, which was due to the remaining merit of the beings in this place. He temporarily stood and resided like a young man, and his body seemed as light as before. Even so, he still did not eat much, which caused concern, so everyone strongly requested him to take medicine to treat the illness and perform body blessing rituals, etc. All the local and foreign devotees prayed in unison. Generally speaking, birth, old age, sickness, and death are natural laws. I said that everything has already been accomplished, so even if I die, I am at peace. In comparison, those who die empty-handed are pitiful. However, if you are not at ease, you can undergo treatment. Through these blessing rituals, etc., he only said a few words to comfort us who were oppressed by suffering. Like performing tsok and dakini fire pujas in sacred places such as Chimpu, performing longevity practices, making offerings in Dharma centers such as Samye, making donations to the Sangha, reciting the Four Mandala Offering Ritual and the Tara Longevity Dharani, reciting the Kangyur, performing the offering rituals of Mahakala and Palden Lhamo, performing exorcism rituals, accumulating the number of tsatsas and statues, releasing sixty sheep and thousands of fish, especially holding a hundred offering ceremonies and expulsion rituals. After many days, the substitute Torma and wealth were sent away, and afterwards, the relationship was further strengthened.

Represented by offerings, according to the ritual of offering, with pure and vast offerings, wherever the venerable one's teachings went, they are clearly recorded in the oral accounts of the biography. In addition, when engaging in extensive activities such as self-reflection, at these times, near where the venerable one resided, there were many instances of gentle rain of flowers falling and the earth slightly shaking, which seemed to be omens of swiftly departing to other pure lands. Headed by the accomplished Wangindra, including us disciples residing in both native and exiled lands, as well as the general assembly of Pelri Monastery, all patrons such as Püshupa and other devout individuals, offered Ganachakra and extensively performed longevity prayers. Also, from distant places such as Tsona Gön Tseg, Dokhar Nyerchen, Tsang Tekchok Lingpa, etc., they offered representations of body, speech, and mind, and through letters, requested the steadfastness of the lotus feet. Upon hearing of the illness, Sakya Degé also donated two hundred and fifty silver taels to the major monasteries under their jurisdiction, as offerings, and performed extensive longevity rituals with four hundred million recitations of the secret lord Vajrapani (Tibetan: ཕྱག་ན་རྡོ་རྗེ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: वज्रपाणि, Sanskrit Romanization: Vajrapāṇi, Literal Chinese Meaning: Vajra Hand) and one hundred thousand Sachas, etc., and dispatched the physician Chukyepa, attendants, etc., offering medicines, and said that if other skilled doctors were needed, they could invite so-and-so. The venerable one said, "There is no illness that requires calling a doctor. But if you are uneasy, you can consult a doctor who is near us. Calling from afar will only be futile." Nevertheless, everyone still hoped for a nearby doctor to examine the venerable one's pulse and urine, and offered many diagnoses, medicines, etc., which the venerable one accepted. This seemed to be to preemptively bear the suffering that we would face in the future, and to comfort us with compassion in times of panic, the kindness of which is immeasurable. In a conversation, the venerable one said, "When a lama passes away, the body is preserved intact, and the body is bound in this way." He also said, "Some lamas nowadays only pursue fame, and are ashamed of wasting the offerings of devotees, so our own possessions have always been dedicated to the Three Jewels. In the future, if it falls on you, don't make it too special."
