Practical Conduct: Regarding mantra, it is said in the Vajra Arrangement, "The five enjoyments of desirable qualities, mantra with skillful means is the best companion." Yoga is also like this, from the nature of things, equanimity is space, and subsequent attainment is to make illusion the path, with aims. For mantra, it is to make the inconceivable great spontaneous accomplishment the path. In terms of self-other benefit, from the nature of things, the means are inconceivable, and the gateways are few. Mantra can bring rain to cut off famine, and accomplished yogis can bring down rain of food, drink, jewels, etc., can control, pacify diseases and conflicts, etc., making the place and city auspicious. In terms of necessity, from the nature of things, there is only the generation of fruit from cause, but in mantra, the secret of mind is made the path, and similarly, speech and body are also made the path, and there is nothing difficult to do. In the ancient Nyingma lineage's 'Horse King Wrathful Subduing Tantra,' it says, "The great secret mantra of the fruit vehicle, is especially superior because it is special, with many methods and no difficulties, it is the superiority of those with sharp faculties, because the meaning is the same and not confused, the vehicle of mantra is especially superior, because it knows the path in the fruit itself, one can attain complete Buddhahood in one lifetime." So it is said. Regarding the difference in accumulating merit, from the nature of things, there are only pure actions such as the six perfections, but in mantra, it is to purify samsara into the Buddha's field, to know the aggregates of afflictions and desirable qualities as the mudra of offering, etc., in a way that surpasses with fifteen differences, the Lord Vajradhara said, "The Hearers and other lesser vehicles, do not have instructions, view, conduct, mind-holding, cause, path, fruit, ground, time, enjoyment, yoga, self-other benefit and necessity, without labor, abandoning extremes, ease, the difference in accumulating merit, with fifteen differences, the vidyadhara vehicle is especially superior." And in 'Accomplishment of Wisdom' it says, "From the great vehicle of cause, the paths of body, speech, and mind, the secret is greater than the great mantra, it should be recognized as the most superior." This is because the secret of body, speech, and mind is inconceivable and unsurpassed, it is the declaration of the great vow of superiority. Second, there are two ways of establishing mantra:

In general, it is the doctrine and detailed explanation. First, the general nature of mantra has four aspects: basis, definition, meaning of sound, and categories of names. First, the Dharmata, which is the nature of the self-existent body and wisdom inseparable, clear in the light of its own nature from the beginning, exists in four states through the actions of the path: the object of purification, what is to be purified, the purifier, and the result of purification. The Dharmadhatu Tathagatagarbha, clear in the light, is the nature to be purified. The sudden obscurations of karma and afflictions, the laws of samsara, including the eight aggregates of alaya consciousness, are what is to be purified. Among them, the alaya consciousness with various habits is the root of samsara, so it must be transformed. The nature of the alaya consciousness in the way it abides does not change in essence, but the part of the alaya consciousness named nominally changes and becomes the wisdom of the Dharmadhatu. Similarly, the other consciousnesses also manifest the remaining four wisdoms, such as mirror-like wisdom, from the part that is transformed. Obtaining new qualities of wisdom through the ocean-like path of maturation and liberation is the purifying dharma. Having purified in this way, all the obscuring aspects of the Dharmadhatu are purified, transformed into the Bodhi realm, and the nature of body and wisdom manifests, and the ultimate fulfillment of the two benefits is the result of purification. As it is said in the "Secret Accomplishment": The Dharmadhatu is free from defilements and attains results, and the mantra is explained in four ways. Second, the Dharmadhatu is naturally pure and uninterrupted, and is the great secret of the Vajra mind that expresses it. As it is said in the "Vajra Peak Sutra": The definition of all mantras is the mind of all Buddhas, which accomplishes the essence of the Dharma and is perfectly in accordance with the Dharmadhatu. Third, it is divided into two parts: a general explanation of the meaning of sound and a specific explanation of the etymology of the tantra. First, in Sanskrit, it is called Mantra (Tibetan: མནྟྲ་, Sanskrit: mantra, Romanized Sanskrit: mantra, Chinese: 真言), so it is called secret mantra or mantra. If it is interpreted from the sound that needs to be added with letters, then "mana" (Tibetan: མ་ན་, Sanskrit: mana, Romanized Sanskrit: mana, Chinese: 意) is "mind" and "traya" (Tibetan: ཏྲ་ཡ་, Sanskrit: traya, Romanized Sanskrit: traya, Chinese: 救护) is protection. Transforming the mind and afflictions into wisdom, protecting and overcoming from incompatible aspects such as self-grasping, this is the meaning. As it is said in the latter part of the "Guhyasamaja Tantra": The mind is called Man (Tibetan: མན་, Sanskrit: man, Romanized Sanskrit: man, Chinese: 意), and Tra (Tibetan: ཏྲ་, Sanskrit: tra, Romanized Sanskrit: tra, Chinese: 救护) means to protect.
