The distinction of being superior in the means of maturing. It is the means to swiftly accomplish the unsurpassed enlightenment for the sake of others without difficulty, which is well-known in the treatises of the three kinds of lamps, so there is no need to say more. Secondly, in terms of characteristics, the view is that emptiness is free from elaboration, merely expressed in words as a path. From the beginning, the two truths, conventional and ultimate, are not understood as inseparable, with the nature of deities and mantras. In mantra, even without conventional truth, appearances are connected to purity as deities, merely as manifestations of illusion. The ultimate truth, the realm of reality and wisdom, is understood as spontaneously accomplished from the beginning, without inherent existence. As it says in the "Illusion Path Stages": "Without difference between ultimate and conventional, in the great mandala of equality." In terms of conduct, characteristics involve acceptance and rejection. In mantra, from the nature of appearance and emptiness as illusion, the state of deities and palaces, offering to deities through gathering assemblies, being in accordance with the Dharma, and purifying afflictions are superior. In terms of samadhi, in characteristics, it involves abiding in shamatha and contemplating with vipassana, requiring effort with the difficulty of mind-holding. In mantra, the accumulation of merit is perfected and elaboration is pacified through the stage of generation with signs. The stage of completion without signs enjoys the accumulation of wisdom, and merely by controlling the key points of the channels and winds, the unerring nature of reality is quickly shown, thus it is superior. In terms of cause, in characteristics, it relies on the conventional truth of what is to be generated and what generates. In mantra, the wisdom of one's own nature, which is to be purified, is forcibly introduced without acceptance or rejection, and by meditating on it, it is superior due to the key point of realizing the ultimate truth. In terms of path, in characteristics, since the two accumulations must be alternately performed, it takes countless eons to traverse. In mantra, entering the path of non-dual, unerring wisdom of one's own nature, one quickly traverses it, thus it is superior. In terms of result, in characteristics, confidence is assumed in the future. In mantra, it is considered spontaneously accomplished in one's own nature in the present, thus it is superior. Similarly, in characteristics, the eleven bhumis are attained through gradual abandonment and cultivation. In mantra, three great pure results are obtained. Regarding the view on time, the scriptures say: "In countless eons, whatever the Buddhas know, mantra practitioners in one moment, attain complete enlightenment in one lifetime." In terms of enjoyment, in characteristics, it is
