With a heart full of reverence, and sincerely longing for and believing in the biographies of the teacher Shantideva and Jowo Je, he went to visit Drikungpa Rinchen Phuntsok, who had come to benefit the southern region, and was building the E-wam (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal Chinese meaning) and the not-so-tall Satang Monastery. He happened to be giving a general teaching on the Bodhicharyavatara to over three hundred monks. "The true meaning of wisdom is not within the reach of consciousness." Starting from this sentence, he mainly explained the Jowo commentary on three verses. He refuted the famous commentaries, adorned it with logic, and also explained it in conjunction with the practices of the Kagyu school. Seeing that he was teaching very well, the compassionate Dharma of this venerable master deeply touched his heart. He threw away the little thought of material enjoyment that was stored in the willow basket from the roof. As he was about to leave, a friend who knew medicine temporarily stopped him. At this time, he was eighteen years old. Originally, the heart power and aspiration of a holy person cannot be hindered by external forces. Like a fearless lion soaring in the sky, he left the monastery, abandoned his friends, gave up his greed for wealth, and only thought of the master who could point out the ultimate meaning and the quiet place in his heart, and fled like a wild animal escaping from a cage. When he arrived in Phenpo (present-day Linzhou County, Lhasa), he accompanied more than forty monks, including the realized Kagawa of Drikung Yangriwa, who were begging for alms. At that time, Drikungpa was very wise in both politics and religion. Sitting on the throne of Ther, he formulated rules and regulations with the vision of the former Chokyi Drakpa, which were very good. In the midst of the sea of attendants like teachers and officials, seeing Lhasaz Drikungpa Rinchen Phuntsok, he was a smiling person without contradictions, who came to offer gifts. His (the author's) debating arrogance disappeared immediately, and an unparalleled faith arose in his heart, and tears flowed uncontrollably. He abandoned the attachment to debate in name and form, like discarding a snake's skin. He thought of entrusting his life and future to him. After a while, he carefully listened to the scriptures. In general, although the Kagyu school possesses worldly wealth, the threshold of Dharma is high and the rules are very good, so the new students strictly abide by the monastery's rules and regulations.

Upon entering, the master said, 'This Geshe of Ewampa is very talented. Although he must abide by the rules, he thinks it is his own accumulation, so he has been working hard for three months.' He received the empowerment of Chakrasamvara Five Deities, the instructions of Mahamudra Sahajakaya, and the one taste of the Kagyu Golden Rosary. He listened to the instructions of the Fivefold Profound Path. If he were to become familiar with Chöd by means of vows, he thought of becoming a renunciate and impartial yogi, so he reported, 'You should not go anywhere, but stay here.' The master said, 'I am also very familiar with Chöd.' He fulfilled his wish. The master and disciple had many conversations on Sutra and Tantra, especially on the methods of explaining the views of the old and new schools, and whether they conformed to the true meaning. They trusted each other very much. He praised, 'The name of Geshe is well-deserved.' He praised him with great respect, but he was only humble and cautious. At that time, Drikungpa thought, 'Such a person is knowledgeable, virtuous, eloquent, and amazing in every way.' Then, the prophecy of Guru Padmasambhava appeared. 'Once, you only need to hint at Sutra and Tantra, and he will understand. I think he is a person who has been blessed by Guru Padmasambhava in illusion, and has a great habit of the Dharma of the old secret mantra.' 'Do you have faith in Guru Padmasambhava?' The Geshe replied, 'I have regarded Guru Padmasambhava as the real Buddha since I was a child. I have little discrimination towards ordinary people, so I am not very familiar with any Dharma.' The master said, 'Then pray, the appearance of the body and the prophecy are certain.' Also, when he was the judge of Rigarpa, he attached great importance to the practice of the Dharma, so no one could violate the Vinaya Pitaka he spoke of. Once, Drikungpa said, 'Geshe needs to explain the one taste Dharma in the assembly tomorrow.' There was no such custom of explanation before, but it was for the sake of need. Thinking that he could not disobey the master's order, the next day in the center of the assembly, Shabdrung came to the front of the assembly. The Khenpo, teachers, and Dharma people of Tel Monastery, Vajra holders, junior students, and also
