At that time, he took the vows of a lay devotee from Tsultrim Ozer, who was the abbot of both Ewam Lingme and Nyinding, and who possessed the complete qualities of a steadfast and wise teacher. Because he could recognize most of the deities on the offering table, he was named Sherab Ozer, meaning that he had extraordinary wisdom. He received his full ordination from Panchen Dorje Gyalwa, the best of the students with golden complexions. After that, he entered the ranks of those who study, contemplate, and meditate. From the Ganden Tripa, he heard the profound view of Tendhar and the two traditions of generating bodhicitta with vast conduct, the Compendium of Trainings, Engaging in the Bodhisattva Deeds, the Summary of All Sutras, the Bodhisattva Grounds, the Twenty Verses on Vows, the Actualization of Bodhicitta according to the Nagarjuna tradition, and so on, and he earnestly studied the treatises of Nagarjuna. He studied the treatises on logic day and night for six years. From the two teachers, he heard the Five Treatises of Maitreya, the Five Categories of Grounds, the Two Types of Vows, the Collection of Middle Way Reasoning, the Collection of Valid Cognition, the Collection of Praises, the Explanation of the Awakening Mind, the Five Stages, and the two Lamrims of the Gelugpas, the Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path of Secret Mantra, and so on, many Indian and Tibetan treatises and commentaries. Although a complete understanding arose in the process of the path, only the pure view that uproots the seeds of samsara is present. Because there are many debates and assertions about this, it is difficult to know what the true nature is. Nagarjuna was prophesied to teach the profound view of the Buddha. His commentary is the logician Chandrakirti. Chandrakirti also attained realization by relying on Buddhapalita, so he made a thorough study of Buddhapalita's commentary. He said, "I am not satisfied with those who talk about the state of view these days." There was a teacher who was proficient in both Sakya and Gelug, and he had perfected his studies in both traditions. In particular, he fully understood the true meaning of the writings of Tsongkhapa the Great on Guhyasamaja. From Dorje Gyalwa, he heard the Nine Deities of Hevajra, the Five Paths and Fruits, the Eleven Aspects of the Compendium of Valid Cognition, the explanation and commentary on the Three Gurus, the complete Kalachakra, the guidance on the two Lamrims, and the detailed explanations from the commentary of the Holy Lama, thus cutting off the ends of doubts. That teacher said, "Geshe Sherab Ozer seems to grasp the essence of the Dharma and is able to ask questions." When teaching, he was without any hesitation.

It was necessary to impose strict demands on intelligence. From the precious Dorje Gyalwa, generally, the explanations of the Sutra and Tantra texts, all the teachings and practices that exist now, are like golden ones. Having listened to the complete Sakya Kabum, he also did revisions. In particular, he was extremely familiar with the golden texts and also held its tenets. This holy being was the immediate reincarnation of Yakde Panchen, therefore, from a young age, his clarity was extremely great, and especially, the great master gave that Panchen the instructions of the Lion-faced Dakini, which he practiced himself. Furthermore, fearing that he might forget, at the time of his passing, the expansion of the Evam Stone Hermitage, he came into possession of it at this time. However, Drukpa Rinpoche Pema Karpo also had some doubts about a vision, saying, 'In the future, this is because he went among the Akus who hold vows.' As it was said, the interdependence went under the influence of others. In that monastery, and in whatever monastic colleges where the sound of consequentialist debate resounded, when he arrived at the battleground of debate, his intelligence became inconceivable, and thus he also relaxed the requirements for Tibetan commentaries. Relying solely on the treatises of the Six Ornaments and Two Supremes, he thoroughly beat the great drum of the three—debate, investigation, and reason—from all directions. The teacher of Lingme said, 'Although you seem like a new student, you have such great wisdom.' A Geshe of Bodongpa asked the omniscient Rongpo, 'What are you proficient in?' He replied, 'I am proficient in Prajnaparamita.' He asked, 'Then, are you proficient in Vinaya?' He replied, 'Of course, I am, because it is the conduct of Prajnaparamita.' Again, when asked about Madhyamaka and Pramana, he replied, 'Similarly, Madhyamaka is the view, and Pramana is the path of reasoning.' Just like that, judging from the way you rely on Madhyamaka and Prajnaparamita to seek the framework of the teachings, and the way you establish the tenets of the path of reasoning, a Geshe is what you are.' He was praised in the assembly, and from then on, he became known as Geshe Sherab Ozer. Although he possessed intelligence like thorns in logical reasoning, such great beings do not merely rely on these to prepare for pursuing fame and wealth, but with intense renunciation and detachment, they moistened their minds and focused wholeheartedly on the wheel of diligent practice.
