For the sake of subduing the three poisons, the eight glorious dogs are engaged in canine tasks. They eat food without distinguishing between clean and unclean. Especially, they relish large pieces of meat. They drink without distinguishing between bitter and sweet. Especially, they are satisfied with blood and urine. They run without feeling tired. Especially, they protect the secret mandala. Hūṃ! The dog running from the east, thunders to subdue the gandharvas. It thunders and subdues the great god. The dog running from the south, flashes red lightning and suppresses Yama. It is the flesh-eating queen of Yama. The dog running from the west, subdues vajra, garuda, dragon, nāga, and demons. It is the one who extracts the hearts of a thousand nāga children. The dog running from the north, destroys the yaksha's spine network. It is the one who extracts the hearts of a thousand yakshas. The dog running from the southeast, assists the sages and fire gods. It is the one who extracts the heart of the fire god's demon.
