Regarding the method of examination, Kukkuraja said: A line that is too low will not accomplish anything, a curve will cause suffering, a break will cause the teacher and disciples to die or become ill, a break or excess will cause disease, and a wrong direction will lead to confusion. Thus it is said. Then, the method by which the teacher or representative draws the signs of the deities is from the *Wisdom Peak*: "Whoever has received authorization for the activity should begin to draw the mudras. The uneven center is the vajra, the color is like eye medicine, equal to the number of the main deity, the radiating top is placed in the center. The eight spokes are blazing, and should be properly placed in front. The beauty of the vajra is like that. The jewels of various rays should be placed in their own places." Thus it is said. At the center of that, there is a black three-pointed vajra, and the five supreme sons each have the hand implements and colors of their respective families. On the eight spokes, according to the tantras, draw the signs of the ten wrathful deities, each of their respective families. In the direction of Indra, draw an open-mouthed vajra. In the direction of Agni, draw a vajra jewel. In the direction of Yama, draw a vajra arrow. In the direction of the unreal, draw a vajra bow. In the direction of the water lord, draw a vajra lasso. In the direction of the wind, draw a vajra fire. In the direction of the yaksha, draw a vajra club. In the direction of the powerful one, draw a three-pointed vajra. In the northeast, draw a vajra skull cup. In the southwest, draw a vajra foot and plow. Thus it is said. That is, above, draw Namgyal in the east of the east, and below, draw Toboche in the west of the west, and between the spokes, draw two phurbas each, and the remainder, from the Karma Guru Tantra: "On the cloth outside of that, the guardians are arranged alternately. At the gate are the four gate goddesses, and on the iron fence is the powerful mother. Although they are actually Buddhas, they reside as servants." Although it is said like that, here, following the root explanation, the twenty-eight powerful women are arranged as if they were residing in the four directions of the courtyard. Having arranged it like that, at the time of preparation, the wisdom beings residing in the sky are dissolved into the mandala with the four mudras and mantras. Then, the method of arranging the ornaments and offerings, from the *Secret Tantra*: "Outer, inner, and secret offerings, arrows and phurbas, swords, mirrors, colored silks, and protective cords," and from the *Activity Tantra*: "Fierce...

Gather the items excellently. The severed remains of limbs and pieces, vertebrae, brains, blood, and heads, triangular dark blue torma, and praises of fierce substances such as poison. Together with the items of the dakinis, gather them and make offerings. Thus, the ornaments of the mandala and suitable fierce offerings, as well as the three vases prepared beforehand and other empowerment substances, should be gathered without any incompleteness. Secondly, the activities of empowerment are threefold: accomplishing the mandala, entering oneself, and bestowing empowerment on others. The first is: In the root tantra it says, 'Those who possess complete and abundant items, the Buddhas should be practiced properly.' Thus, with stable familiarity in the generation and completion stages, it is acceptable for oneself, the front, and the three vases to enter as one. For those who act with devotion, it is better to distinguish the aspects of visualization since the rituals are different. The second, entering oneself, is: In the Secret Intent it says, 'Pray and also receive empowerment. Body, speech, and mind, qualities and activities are empowered in five ways. By empowering the life of the ten directions, life transforms into wisdom, and the empowerment to liberate the three realms.' Thus, invite the Tathagatas of the ten directions with their retinue in the form of the deities of the mandala complete with three seats. At the time of performing the act of bestowing the five wisdom empowerments, for the newly born experience of uniting bliss and emptiness, the sequence of the four empowerments, and the nature of bodhicitta, purify all defilements with the water of the vase empowerment. Visualize the remaining water flowing upwards, becoming the headdress of the five families, which is the empowerment of the life of the three places of the mandala into wisdom. From this, also visualize oneself as the mandala that has been accomplished from the beginning, with the three deities of body, speech, and mind in the three places, marked by the three emblems and three seed syllables, from which rays of light emanate. Purify the karma and afflictions of all sentient beings of the three realms, liberate the uncomprehended nature of samsara into the enlightened mind of bodhicitta, and gather them inseparably into oneself, which is called the empowerment of the life of the three realms. As said before, the three realms are originally Buddhas, but due to the power of conceptual thought, they are in samsara. Liberate the non-dual bodhicitta, and again gather it into oneself and empower it. This is the self-practice of the Vajrakilaya.
