Because it is the single entity that is the antidote to the unstated, it is called Samadhi or Dhyana. As the "Heap of Jewels Cloud Sutra" says: "The nature of Samadhi is the one-pointedness of mind." Its characteristic is: for example, when a warrior draws a bow, or when the tuning pegs of a lute are tightened, the strings are stable and taut, and remain still. Similarly, for the practice of generation stage with objects such as Bodhicitta and so on, or the completion stage with suchness as the object, when mindfulness abides in the object, mindfulness continuously stabilizes, therefore the name Samadhi is also obtained. Regarding this, the method of eliminating obstacles, abandoning antidotes, and combining is: the antidotes to laziness are four: faith, desire, effort, and pliancy. The antidote to forgetfulness is mindfulness. The antidote to dullness and excitement is awareness. The antidote to effort is relaxation. The antidote to non-effort is attention. Although it is established as six types, at any time, the most important thing is that the nature of co-emergent ignorance is forgetfulness and distraction, therefore if there is mindfulness, the other five also have almost no ability to maintain their respective characteristics. Here, with the mind holding ignorance, at the moment when mindfulness and awareness decline, what example shows that all virtuous dharmas and the limits of karma will be destroyed? Once upon a time, a strong giant and an artist fought, and the giant grabbed the artist's neck with all his strength and threw him to the ground. The artist fixed himself on the rotating wheel with the postures of four limbs, three limbs, two limbs, and one limb. Although his strength was further reduced, he was unharmed. In the end, he ran home in shame and cried. His wife asked him what was wrong, and he said that he had fought with a giant today and was humiliated. If he fights again tomorrow, there is no choice but death. The wife said: Don't cry, I have a way. The next day, she followed as before. There, when the two of them were fighting, the wife sang: The giant is strong, but the jewel on his forehead is about to fall off. After singing, the giant had three different thoughts: putting the jewel in his heart is the mind of attachment; fearing to lose the jewel is the mind of hatred towards the enemy; not seeing his own treasure and his mind being blinded is ignorance.
