Burn it! In reality, also abandon this attainment of the world of Yama, the Lord of Death. Always, after knowing the difference between ordinary beings and the holy ones, Cherish practicing the sixteen pure human customs, and the conduct of the holy ones. Acting carelessly, striving for evil, being indifferent to whether there is wisdom or not, Being difficult to please without repaying favors, the conduct of ordinary people cannot be fully described. Respecting the results of actions, having a sense of shame, being the embodiment of compassion, enduring practice, Being affectionate, powerful, and daring to speak frankly, such a person is worthy of being regarded as a close friend. Not at the appropriate times, always acting as one pleases, Passing time with drinking and gambling, this will ruin both worldly and spiritual laws. Even if it is unpleasant but beneficial, even if it is uncertain but truthful words, If it is something worth keeping in mind, then please avoid the opposite behavior. Flattery for one's own benefit, and good wishes that are not in accordance with the Dharma, Are not earrings worn by great people, hard earlobes are the adornment of a ruler. Just as swans love lakes, the holy ones are easy to approach, Just as seagulls flee from forests, do not be close to those who are not holy. Just as a mother loves her child, if you show kindness to your subjects, Just as a child serves their mother, how could the subjects not treat you with respect? If you are not skilled in worldly laws, the ability to govern the world will be confused. If you deviate from the Dharma, even if you are wealthy, you will decline in the next life. Due to being influenced by sinful friends, the Brahmin's child also took up the sword. Due to being guided by virtuous friends, Ashoka also became a Buddhist king. You have wealth, do not be arrogant because of it, only seek merit. A king without merit, even if brave, is a leader of Yakshas. Even if you know that enjoyment is impermanent, you rarely use it for good deeds. Even if you do good deeds, but accomplish them with evil, it is like defiling camphor with garlic. Just as the leader of the herd walks in front, the other cows can follow without worry, If you enter the conduct of the holy ones, your subjects will also follow. Just as protecting oneself, one can naturally protect others, Maintain and promote the traditions of the ancestral sages, and repair what has declined. Like this, from the lineage of Songtsen Gampo (7th century Tibetan Emperor), Having attained enlightenment...

For the sake of enjoying climbing the stairs, the lords and ancestors upheld the Dharma. 43. However, flaws in the laws, and the partiality of unwise fools, the sins of creating chaos, although they have existed since ancient times, can still be eliminated. 44. Despising those who can endure asceticism, and causing those who endure hunger to suffer greatly, and imposing excessive punishments and depriving status, do not punish anyone with these punishments. 45. Stealing from the offerings to the Three Jewels, and abandoning the sacred Dharma, even tormenting those who merely hold outward symbols, belonging to the five inexpiable sins, and holding to the five paths of unwholesome actions. 46. From the crown of the kingly lineage, the stream of merit from all empowerments, like a fire not consumed by demons, burns and utterly defeats, cutting off the fruits of happiness for gods and humans from the outside. 47. Similarly, for the ministers, in the dwelling place of wrong views, destroying villages and cities, for the king and ministers each have five definite faults. 48. Since the ten root downfalls are explained in the Sutra of Namo Heart, for the sake of protecting oneself, there is no need for others to clap their hands in praise. 49. There is no relative more intimate than generosity, delighting in giving food to the helpless, there is no asceticism comparable to patience, therefore especially guard vows and promises. 50. This land is a source of jewels, the Thus-gone-ones are emanations of compassion. Transferring awareness to the minds of sentient beings, transform crafts into body, speech, and mind. 51. Now, from the eight leisures and endowments, when like a bird freed from a net, are the limbs of inherent wealth declining or not? Examine and quickly restore them. 52. Like this, although the nature of birth is powerful, when practicing the sacred Dharma, leisure and endowment are rare. From a noble body to an unpleasant voice, in order, a universal monarch. 53. Possessing the power and glory of Brahma, Indra, and the protectors of the world, those who are arrogant due to power and youth, due to the end of karma and the wealth of most others, abandoning them, again fall into the servitude of samsara. 54. Whether the falls are equal or unequal, the way of involuntarily wandering in the six realms, like a drunken elephant controlled by a hook, often goes many paths continuously. 55. Especially those bound by the noose of Yama, unbearably suffer the flames of hellfire and the burning of iron.
