The ocean carrying the collection of words. The ocean carrying the collection of words. Chapter 1 of the Collection of Words, called the Boat Carrying the General Meaning of the Ocean of Qualities of the Collection of Words. The Ocean Carrying the Collection of Words exists. Called the Boat Carrying the General Meaning of the Ocean of Qualities of the Collection of Words. Homage to the Buddha who speaks without duality! A garland of perfect jewels as a necklace, holding the auspiciousness of the first heaven of high position, with the drum of words that makes the world happy, may the new earrings of beings be beautiful! Due to ignorance and the power of karma, the body that has weakened the virtuous asceticism, from all the sources of the aquatic creatures of samsara, the supreme teacher who saves beings is the victorious tree. In whom the truly excellent Dharma is obtained, on the handle of the white umbrella of scripture and realization, the supreme group of liberated ones playing gracefully, may the fame of words turn towards offering. Here, the meaning of all the eighty-four thousand aggregates of Dharma spoken by our teacher, is contained within the Tripitaka, the precious vehicle that guides all beings, among which, the Vinaya Pitaka is both the teacher and the teaching for those who initially enter the school, while the Sutra Pitaka and the Abhidhamma Pitaka are only determined as the teaching, as said by the master Dharmakirti: The Victorious One, the teacher, his holy Dharma, the Sutra and the Abhidhamma are said, the Vinaya is the teacher and the treatise, therefore, double homage to you, you are the Buddha. The special basis for praising the Vinaya Pitaka is that, relying on the higher training of morality that teaches transgressions and precepts, temporarily obtaining the state of higher rebirth, and ultimately destroying all the hosts of enemies, the two obscurations and their imprints, therefore, the explanation of the terms for obtaining the fruits such as stream-enterer, once-returner, non-returner, and Arhat is also established. The nature of such higher training of morality is also as said in the Three Hundred Verses: Whoever abandons killing, stealing, non-chastity, false speech, and concocted alcohol, etc., dancing, garlands, etc., large beds, high seats, etc., afternoon meals, and gold and silver.

Pa. The discipline that conquers the enemy of afflictions is like building a dam with the vows of a novice monk. It is the method of extracting the claws of death, and it is the empowerment to receive the glory of complete enlightenment. Thus, by meditating on the nine contemplations of impurity, one can overcome the flood of all afflictions and the collection of sins. By taking great joy in discipline, which is like building a dam with the categories of precepts, it is established as the foundation of the teachings. In this way, the Vinaya Pitaka of individual liberation is also the beginning of the path to liberation, as discipline is the basis of medicine. Monks, if you become accustomed to discipline, then concentration will abide for a long time. If you become accustomed to concentration, then wisdom will abide for a long time. If you become accustomed to wisdom, then in this way, the mind will be completely liberated from desire, hatred, and ignorance. Thus, the Vinaya Pitaka teaches the precepts of individual liberation, and disciplines sentient beings with the aggregate of discipline. Not transgressing this, one is free from regret and attains single-pointed concentration. The Sutra Pitaka extensively distinguishes the three trainings of both the Great and Small Vehicles and correctly applies them to the training of higher mind. The Abhidhamma Pitaka, in order to achieve the non-erroneous discrimination of the nature of the object and to eliminate the defilements of wisdom, intends to apply oneself to the training of higher wisdom. If the meaning of this is explained slightly with the treatises of the Noble Ones and their commentaries, then the Suhrllekha (Letter to a Friend) says: Liberation depends on oneself; in this, others cannot help. Therefore, with hearing, discipline, and meditation, strive for the four noble truths. One should always train in higher discipline, higher wisdom, and higher mind. Even one hundred and fifty or more trainings are completely contained within these three. As it is said, liberation does not depend on the instructions of a friend, but completely depends on one's own teachings, intelligence, logic, examination, and extensive learning that is in accordance with them. Discipline that does not decline, is not destroyed, does not fall, and does not fail, and the part of certainty.
