During the reign of a certain king, there was a small state called Gharok. From there came the great scholar of the Li people, Thoris Salwa. At the edge of his territory, a large river flowed from east to west, and when it reached Calcutta, the French used round boats, not with iron nails, but bound with about twenty fathoms of "ཚར་" (tshar), and then went to China for trade. The Chinese did not allow them into Beijing, but gave them a trading place where both Chinese and Indians gathered. Therefore, it is said that India has all the goods from China. Also, Pagri and Mon Paro (སྤ་གྲོ་, Paro, Bhutan) are close, and from Paro, five or six days straight south is Dabag Sangka. From there, one day straight south is Tsesangka Dong, now controlled by southern Bhutan, where the town of Katzara is located. These places are in northern India, with both mountains and plains, so there are tigers, leopards, wild boars, buffaloes, deer, and so on. Whoever sees a tiger and a wild boar first wins. Leopards are very good at jumping down from trees and killing tigers. In Tibet, people think that leopards are very powerful, which needs careful consideration. From there, one day straight south is Bihar or Ghataka, said to be the descendant of Wangchuk, a great king, now controlled by the French. From there, straight south, from the Rongphu trading post, one can obtain coral, glass incense, pearls, coarse cloth, sandalwood, six good medicines, and a thin and wide cloth called Khasha. From Rongphu, going east, there is a place called Zoki Ghob, which has both mountains and plains, and is also the border of Assam. Near there is a place known as the Monkey Kingdom, managed by a Brahmin named Shartapa, who has many monkey chiefs, ministers, and attendants. The people living under the rule of the monkeys must offer cooked rice from the rice fields allocated to them to the monkeys. If they do not offer it, all the monkeys will ruin the rice fields and there will be no harvest. When the subjects have cooked the rice, the Brahmin Shartapa will distribute the food according to the rank of the monkey king, queen, and ministers, and then the king will enjoy it in turn. If the person offering the food is unlucky, the monkeys will not eat the food. These people will be in debt, etc., this is cause and effect.

Although there was a request, after communicating with the Brahmin, the Monkey King said that he would give as many tangkas as needed, both before and after. This is arranged by karma, and if even the power of the strong cannot suppress it, then it is foolish to place hope on deceitful behavior. Also, from the Rongbuk affairs office, after crossing many southern places, the large kingdom called Dhaka, which is close to the sea, is also occupied by foreigners. To the west of Rongbuk is a small state called Monggor, which was formerly the territory of South Bhutan, but was also taken by the Gurkhas. In the south of that place is a small place called Khaghara, where there are said to be the ruins of the house of the merchant Chandra Pala. To the west of Monggor is Nepal, with about twenty small states led by Yambu, Yerang, and Khokhom, which are very devout to Buddhism, but were later suppressed by the Gurkhas who held the conduct of Asuras. Now the Chyarung Khashor Stupa and the Holy Tree Tara, which are in that place, are only slightly offered to in appearance. To the north of Monggor is Sikkim. Kashmir is to the north of Nepal. There are Jalandhara and Pullahari there. Naropa's assembly hall is in the center of the village, but due to the harm of the heretics, the stone-paved dome is said to be the manifestation of the goddess. The real temple is above that, and it has also become a ruin where owls nest. Here in Tibet, there are also people who believe in Zoka's lies. Also, going southwest from Rongbuk, there is a kingdom called Dhenapur, where there is a market like Rongbuk. From there to the south, there are many merchants traveling by boat on the great river called the Ganges, and carrying goods on the backs of animals called Brang on land. After those people crossed many traveling markets, they arrived at the place where the Tsongchu River called Mahanodi and the Ganges River meet. From there, after crossing many markets and places, from the west they met the largest of the two branches of the Ganges River. Also, from a distance of ninety days' journey, it splits into two branches, one going southeast to the kingdom of Dhaka, and the other going straight south, joining the Ganges River connected to the foundation of the palace of the King of Bengal in a place called Shantapur. That river passes through southern Calcutta.
