When those people gathered the three pitakas, it became possible to start by saying, "Thus I have heard, at one time." In that way, both the words and meanings enter the mind. Although it is the realm of activity for those who have attained special realization and cessation, even just the words entering the mind can bring about a special experience in the continuum. Therefore, reciting or understanding it in the mind day and night has immeasurable benefits. Seventh, teaching: Accumulating the path of virtuous actions and the seeds of liberation in the continuum of others, and for oneself, it also becomes a posadha that increases by not committing faults. Moreover, those with excellent wisdom who know the three pitakas say from the logic of the treatises: "For those who want to speak about the meaning of the sutras, a little instruction should be given. That instruction is: One should speak with the meaning that includes the necessary summary, including refutations and answers, including connections, and including words and meanings." Like this, spread out the main body of the dharma to be taught, summarize the necessary into meaning, eliminate wrong views with refutations and answers, connect the relationships with connections, and accomplish it with the three aspects of word and meaning examination. Moreover, that is, definitive and provisional meanings, with and without intention, these are the four ways of the sutras. For mantra, in addition to that, add literal and non-literal, and teach after measuring well with six boundaries. When teaching in that way, whether it is Mahayana or Hinayana, or the respective schools of sutra and mantra, do not hold on to them, and do not keep your own desires and attachments of views and tenets in mind. Having fear for the vast words and meanings of the Dharma, speaking of affirmation and negation in an arbitrary way is an unforgivable fault of hating the Dharma. Even killing parents and arhats, a person who splits the sangha, that will surely be liberated by thinking about the nature of reality. If someone hates the Dharma, how can there be liberation for them? One should think well about what is said, and also remember the faults of the sixth root downfall. Why? Because the wisdom that can completely distinguish the Dharma has crossed to the other shore of existence and peace, so it is the realm of activity of the ninth excellent wisdom. Able to withstand the examination of reasoning.

It is to follow knowledge and the knowable. Therefore, the two bodhicittas are contradictory in motivation and essence, so great beings with such qualities, for the treatises propagated with letters as the basis, because they are not defiled by desire and possess the two qualities of correction and protection, are related to the path of obtaining liberation. Just as it is said, "Also accept the sage's teachings with the crown of the head," it is regarded as the very heartwood of the teachings. Even by explaining small instructions, if one has heard the Dharma to be explained and is well versed in it in one's mind, and even with the pure wisdom arising from thought, transmits to others without confusing the meaning of the words, it is necessary to cherish it. However, in the absence of such ability to transmit, there arises the situation of introducing something that is not in the pond into the fox's den. In particular, the intention to apply the Dharma to be explained to the mindstream of others is neglected, and one only decorates one's own residence and throne, pays attention to gorgeous clothes, or recites the Dharma like reading a scripture, or transmits it as a message to others, causing students to have no understanding whatsoever in terms of both words and meaning, this is not the conduct of the holy ones. As it is said in the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra: "Listening to the Dharma is for the sake of a little gain, wanting to ask questions, wanting to read, wanting to transmit, wanting to recite, wanting to meditate and listen. Speaking the Dharma is for the sake of a little gain and not wanting to do so, one should know that this is the work of Mara." Therefore, thinking only of gaining profit is also not good. For beginners, and those with discriminating thoughts, the hidden, the difficult to tame and difficult to train, do not be discouraged or impatient. Explain again and again, ask again and again, rely on metaphors to combine the meaning. Through Dharma history, biographies, and even stories and legends, strive to generate understanding. In this way, whether the intelligence is high or low, when teaching the Dharma, first recite seven times the knowledge mantra for subduing the Maras as mentioned in the Sutra Requested by Ocean of Wisdom, and whatever the Dharma to be taught, whether Sutra or Tantra, visualize oneself as the teacher or compiler of that Sutra or Tantra, and teach with bodhicitta. Especially the empowerment of mantra, etc.
