What is there? All of that depends on the power of Bodhicitta! The sons of the Victorious Ones who have generated the precious Bodhicitta, even if they go everywhere in the three realms, they have no fear, like a wish-fulfilling king, they can get whatever they want, as it is said. The second is the content of the dedication: Offering to the superiors, giving to the inferiors, etc., in short, the four means of gathering, and the ten perfections, etc., all the accumulations of the two accumulations from the gates of merit and wisdom. In this regard, the field, intention, and object are all pure and complete, and are considered to be great virtues. Slightly distinguishing the differences of the fields, there are two types: the field of merit and the field of benefit. The Hinayana considers the upper ones to be the main ones, and the most excellent of these is the Three Jewels, as it is said in the sutras: There is no teacher like the Buddha, there is no protector like the Dharma, there is no field of merit like the Sangha, therefore one should offer to the Three Jewels. Among them, the Sangha, which actually enjoys the benefits, is particularly emphasized, as it is said in the Sutra of the Sanghatas: Because it is the treasure of all dharmas, it is the door to reveal all aspects, the Sangha is the practitioner, and everything should be offered to the Sangha. Here, the view of the Mahayana is that, compared to good objects, one should cherish bad objects even more, as it is said in the sutras: For those who have no reliance and no relatives, the sick and the incapable, the old and weak and the disabled, the poor, hungry and suffering, those who have Bodhicitta, should accept those who have no reliance. Although the sutras say to accept those who are abandoned by others and have no relatives, those vehicles only represent a part, and the profound Vajrayana, which can become a Buddha in one lifetime and one body, says that the Guru Vajra Acharya is the supreme field. The Glorious Guhyagarbha Tantra says: Offering with the essence of son, wife, and wealth, and the five powers of enjoyment, is offering to all mandalas, let alone the near mandala? Regarding intention, the Bodhisattva Bhumi says: Bodhisattvas do not give for fame and verses, nor do they give to compete with others, they will become poor.

One does not give out of fear of suspicion. One does not give relying on Indra and the Wheel-Turning King, and power. One does not give looking at the result. One dedicates all giving solely to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete and awakened Bodhi. As it is said, it means that for all roots of virtue, one cherishes the aspiration to attain unsurpassed Bodhi oneself and also to place other sentient beings in Bodhi, like a king; the aspiration to desire liberation together with oneself and sentient beings, like a shepherd; and the aspiration to accomplish the benefit of other sentient beings alone without considering one's own benefit, like a herdsman. Similarly, all things that directly or indirectly become a cause of harm to others, such as killing and taking what is not given, which are accomplished by non-virtue, should be abandoned. As it is said in the sutra: "Stolen and plundered goods, monastic food, which do not harm others, are most cherished and pleasing objects, and are excellent if they become necessary." And, "Not mixed with sins, poisons, and objects of wrong livelihood, weapons, etc." It is necessary to be free from all the faults mentioned, and to have the three kinds of giving, namely Dharma, material, and fearlessness, led by the six perfections. It is necessary to be free from the opposites of each of these. Third, for what purpose should it be done? As it is said in the Bodhicaryāvatāra: "Directly or indirectly, do not use it for anything other than the benefit of sentient beings. For the sake of sentient beings alone, dedicate everything to Bodhi." As it is said, all sentient beings, as vast as the sky, are kind benefactors who have not been kind from beginningless time until now, so generate great compassion for all of them, and dedicate it without partiality for the benefit of all. By dedicating in this way, since the realm of sentient beings is immeasurable, merit will also become immeasurable. As it is said in the Ratnavali: "The realm of sentient beings is immeasurable, and the desire to benefit them is the same." So it is said. Fourth, after showing the way to dedicate, the benefits, etc., one enters into the actual dedication. Thus, even if there is a sea-like amount of contaminated roots of virtue, if it is not increased by pure dedication, then...
