For example, if someone lights a big fire and says, "Put grass, wood, and shrubs into it, and don't let it go out," wouldn't it burn? Answer: No, it would burn. The Buddha said: Similarly, if you accumulate extensive roots of virtue, even if you don't seek or cling to Bodhi, you will attain supreme Bodhi. As it is said. Therefore, like this, the roots of virtue done by giving and offering to the Sugatas, etc., in order to avoid being consumed by the power of strong emotions such as anger in the Bardo, and to make them grow extensively, dedicating them to the unsurpassed great Bodhi, this is only a characteristic of inner Buddhists. Because even the name of outsiders, etc., has not been heard. Whatever great assembly of meritorious deeds is accumulated, completely dedicated to all sentient beings, whatever the Buddha, the Lord of Sages, has declared, such teachings are not found in other treatises. Thus, it is also praised as a way of praising the Bhagavan in a superior way. Furthermore, all sentient beings have the goodness of their own nature, and this way of being naturally accomplished from the beginning is the nature of the mind, the great manifestation of the three doors of liberation, which is originally present. Being liberated from separable defilements, the original state is manifested as it is, therefore the name of Buddhahood is established. This itself is unconditioned goodness, which is the purity of the three spheres, as it is said: Water, fire, crystal, and jewels have the characteristic of being completely pure. When illuminated by the rays of the sun and moon, they reveal their own qualities. Similarly, the Alaya consciousness is the pure realm of the Tathagatagarbha, possessing uncontaminated qualities. If it is realized, it will reveal its qualities. Therefore, in the stage of the path, dedication is the primary of all the collections of merit attained after the fact by Bodhisattvas. Regarding this, according to whether it is related to Samadhi or not, the difference between superior and inferior is established, that is, completely dedicating by focusing on sentient beings, completely dedicating by focusing on Dharma alone, and completely dedicating in a state of non-focus, there are three types. Among them, the most supreme is the dedication of the purity of the three spheres. The Abhisamayalankara states: Completely

Dedication is special. Its action is supreme, because it is of the nature of non-objectification. So it is said. That is, for ordinary beings and those who abide on the path of accumulation of bodhisattvas, their roots of virtue are dedicated with objectified sentient beings and self-grasping. Noble bodhisattvas, in the state of post-meditation, dedicate in the manner of illusion and dream, and in the presence of their equipoise and perfect Buddhas, they dedicate in the state of the unconditioned realm of phenomena. In short, the preliminary is the arising of bodhicitta, the main part is non-objectification, and the conclusion is dedication to complete enlightenment of omniscience. It is necessary to be grasped by these three supreme aspects, which is established as the foundation of all roots of virtue. From this, the meaning of the word 'dedication' refers to transforming the state of realization. If divided, there are four: the object to which one dedicates, the object or cause with which one dedicates, the purpose for which it is done, and the way in which one must dedicate, along with the benefits. First, the object: it is not grasped by the mind of non-objectification, nor is it merely for the peace of one's own benefit, it is not the state of the lesser vehicle of hearers and solitary realizers. From the Mother Prajnaparamita: 'All roots of virtue, except for omniscience, cannot be dedicated to the state of hearers or solitary Buddhas.' Likewise, it is even more inappropriate to dedicate for the sake of the fruits of Brahma, Indra, the universal monarch, and the petty kings of realms, retinues, enjoyments, gains, fame, and so on, which are worldly perfections. When the Victorious Buramshingpa was training in the conduct of a bodhisattva, even when he gave away without hesitation all the cherished things such as the kingdom, land, body, and enjoyments, he said: 'By this giving, may I never be for the desire of heaven or kingship, not for competition, not for the sake of fame, but only for the sake of unsurpassed enlightenment.' One should follow his example of making dedication the cause of great enlightenment. Moreover, in this context, dedication, bodhicitta, and aspiration prayers are sometimes considered to be of the same essence, and sometimes they are divided into four possibilities of being and non-being, with various different classifications. The most important thing is to be grasped by the precious mind of enlightenment. As it is said: 'The qualities of the Victorious One and his retinue.'
