Like a cow giving milk, they remained in their original place. Initially, there were monkeys, then gradually they transformed into humans, thus needing to be divided into four parts: the Se clan, the Mu clan, the Dong clan, and the Tong clan, these four Miao clans. Some also added the Dra clan and the Zhe clan, making it six clans, with twelve small states and fourteen small tribes, etc., gradually gaining power. However, because there was no one to rule the whole, they thought it would be difficult to promote Buddhism. Thus, it is said that a unique son appeared from the incarnate, of the Licchavi lineage. The son of the Indian King of a Hundred Battles was born with eyes that could cover the earth, teeth that were right-turning conch shells, and wheel patterns on the palms of his hands, a superhuman being. They suspected he was an emanation of a demon and abandoned him. He went to the top of Lhari Gyangto Mountain to observe, saying, "Houses and land, the land is auspicious." Like this, possessing the perfect signs of the ten virtues, knowing the place was Yarlung, the snow mountain was Shampo, and there was a heavenly ladder on Lhari Rolpo Mountain, he arrived at Tsangtang Four Gates. The herders saw him and asked, "Who exactly are you?" He replied, "Tsangpo." When asked where he came from, he pointed to the sky, and people recognized him as a god, saying, "This is our master." They used their necks as a seat and carried him, hence he was known as Nyatri Tsangpo, the beginning of the monarch. The Bonpos said he came from the Mu rope. Thereafter, after twenty-seven generations, Lha Thothori Nyantsen appeared. The earliest castle, Yumbu Lhakhang, was built. Because the time had come to proclaim the great drum of truth of the omniscient prophecy, a rain of scriptures fell upon the king's palace, and at the same time, the *Za Ma Tok Sutra* was carried away by the wind and held in the sky by non-humans. With this king, the first auspicious sign for the flourishing of Dharma in Tibet appeared at the top of Yumbu Lhakhang: the Pangkor Chakgyapa (circumambulation mold), the golden stupa, the *Za Ma Tok Sutra*, and the Cintamani-engraved bowl fell on the roof of the palace, initiating the sacred Dharma. Although they did not know what they were, they considered them miraculous, named them "Secret Protectors," and made offerings. The king became young again and extended his life to one hundred and twenty years. Thereafter, it is recorded in the *Genealogy of Kings*.

It is called the realm of the gods. The one who dwells within the snowy mountains is called the king, the god among men, born into the Licchavi lineage. Thus, Songtsen Gampo, who took the form of the noble Avalokiteśvara, was born. In the past, it was said: "Known as the lamp of the world, the goddess White-robed Mother, and the Great White Mother, striving for the benefit of others." Thus, in order to invite the two Jośākya statues, which are no different from the actual Buddha, he adopted the manner of conforming to the world and married the Nepalese princess Bhrikuti, an emanation with a wrathful countenance, and the Chinese princess Wencheng, who was inseparable from Tara, and invited the two Jośākya statues. From among the two great preceptors, Thonmi Sambhota was sent to India, and since there was no script in Tibet before, he established the tradition of writing and reading, and composed treatises such as the Thirty Verses. He subdued the ogress of Tibet lying on her back, and because of the excellence of the craftsmanship, it appeared as if it were a divine creation, hence the Lhasa (Lhasa) Jokhang Temple became famous, and temples for subduing the borders and corners were built, and the earth enemies were suppressed. He established the ten virtues. Furthermore, it is recorded that during the reign of this Dharma king, preceptors such as Kusa Ra from India, the Brahmin Shakara, the Nepalese preceptor Shila Manju, and the Chinese preceptor Hashang Mahayana were invited, and the three pitakas and many tantric sections were translated, and the tradition of the teachings was initiated. Although there was no formal teaching and learning, the king himself bestowed the empowerment of the Great Compassionate Peaceful and Wrathful deities to many fortunate ones in the manner of secret teachings. It is said that at that time, about a hundred yogis with matted hair practicing the yoga of Great Compassion appeared in Nyangbran Phawangka. The teachings given at that time were gathered together and made into three treasures. The accomplished one, Ngödrup, the lord Nyang, and Shakya Öd extracted them from the treasure, which is now known as the Mani Kabum. Thereafter, five generations later, as prophesied by Songtsen Gampo himself, written on a copper plate, Lhachik Trisong Detsen, an incarnation of Manjushri who entered into human form, was born. The dense clouds of past aspirations urged the thunder of the sacred Dharma, and the abbot Shantarakshita of Zahor was invited.
